Justin Cole - David Bowie Justin Cole (b. 1981, Detroit, MI) is an artist living and working in Los Angeles and is a founding member of the performance group OJO. He holds degrees in art from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore (BFA), and the University of California, Los Angeles (MFA). Cole’s work has been exhibited at Five Thirty Three, Los Angeles; The Project, Los Angeles; Lizabeth Olivera Gallery, Los Angeles; Co-Lab, Copenhagen; LA><ART, Los Angeles; Queens Nails, San Francisco; and Centre Pour l’Art et le Culture, Aix-en-Provence; amongst others. His second solo exhibition at Pepin Moore, Los Angeles opens in April.
Harif Guzman - Cate Blanchett Harif Guzman (b. 1975) is a New York artist of Venezuelan descent. Guzman graduated from high school in Fort Lauderdale. His seductive and playful works examine, enlighten, and entertain. He seeks to draw what lies behind the mask—the more basic, intrinsic human urges—under the pseudonym “Haculla.” He garnered international recognition for his painting, wheat paste, and collage works on the streets of Manhattan. Jason Polan - Brad Pitt Jason Polan is an artist living in New York. His work has been exhibited all over the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is a member of the 53rd Street Biological Society and Taco Bell Drawing Club. Polan is currently drawing every person in New York. Polan’s work has appeared in The New York Times, Metropolis Magazine, McSweeney’s, The New Yorker, and ARTnews. He has made over 78 books. Mr. Polan is from Michigan.
Vanessa Prager – Kirsten Dunst Vanessa Prager is a self-taught artist raised in the bohemian L.A. neighborhood of Los Feliz. She imbues a laid back sensibility with vivid color palettes or simple Bic ballpoint pen drawings drafted on vintage music sheets. Combined with her tendency for heightened drama and slightly offbeat situations, Prager’s work naturally draws in the audience and leaves them feeling eerily connected to her beautifully disquieting world.
Hisham Akira Bharoocha - Eva Mendes Hisham Akira Bharoocha is a visual artist/musician/photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Bharoocha has had solo exhibitions at D’Amelio Terras gallery (New York), Vleeshal (The Netherlands) as well as having been in numerous group exhibitions at galleries such the late Deitch Projects, John Connelly Presents, and Galerie Frank Elbaz. His work has been published in ArtForum, V, i-D, Fader, and Dossier, among others. He was a founding member of the experimental noise-rock group Black Dice and the dance-rock band Pixeltan. After leaving those bands, he started Soft Circle, a duo consisting of himself and Benjamin Vida, who currently have an album called Shore Obsessed on PPM Records. Bharoocha was the art director of 77 BOADRUM, a musical composition conceived by the Japanese experimental group Boredoms that involved 77 drummers playing trap kits performing with the band in Brooklyn on 07/07/07, as well as its concurrent permutations. Bharoocha has collaborated with artist Doug Aitken two sound pieces, performing at MOCA, Los Angeles in 2010 and at MoMA, New York in 2007.
David Korty - PenÉlope Cruz David Korty (b. 1971, San Francisco, CA), moved to Los Angeles in 1997, where he lives and works. He received an MFA in Painting from UCLA in 1999. Korty has exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, the United Kingdom, and Berlin. He began painting as a child. Korty sees painting as a metaphysical activity. He believes that Life and Art are the same thing, and that the best artists are as creative with their lives as they are with their work.
Charlyne Yi – Joaquin Phoenix Heartthrob Charlyne Yi is a doomed soul who is trying to stay out of ruckus and save the world. She isn’t a doctor but plays one on TV on Fox’s House, she was winner the Sundance Screenwriting Award for Paper Heart (2009), plays music in many cool bands like Keychain. She was born from her mother’s vagina, grew up in a dirt town, Fontana, CA—a place of NASCAR and the Hell’s Angels. She currently lives in Los Angeles and often spends what’s left of her time on earth drawing, painting, playing music, doing comedy, and trying to find a cape that fits to help save the world. She is founder of the non-profit www.caringiscool.com.
Robin Cameron - Alec Baldwin Robin Cameron typically works in the media of Artists Publications. Her multi-disciplinary practice examines the unfolding narrative of her own life through coded autobiographies and personal mythologies. She was born in British Columbia, Canada in 1981. Her books are available at Printed Matter, held in the collection of the MoMA Library, and have been shown at the New Museum’s Resource Center. She lives and works in New York City.
Diego Dueñas - Halle Berry Diego Dueñas is a guy living and working in New York City. He likes to stay slightly involved in many creative realms, several and sundry. He’s made work in the past as part of Lansing-Dreiden and served the world under other pseudonyms, as well (he may have written parts of your Civics textbook). Ben White & Greg Curtis – Mickey Rourke Greg Curtis and Ben White are Los Angeles-based artists who are currently collaborating on a series of paintings. They each received MFAs from the California Institute of the Arts. Ben White is represented by Blythe Projects in Culver City, CA. Jessica Cannon - Kristen Stewart Jessica Cannon is a New York-based artist whose works explore landscapes in moments of suspension. She has exhibited at Mixed Greens, New York; Tinlark, Los Angeles; the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Brooklyn; the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Westchester; and elsewhere. This summer Jessica will take the short ferry ride to Governor’s Island for a five-month long residency in Building 110, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Arts Center. Michael Mahalchick - Keira Knightley Michael Mahalchick is a Brooklyn-based artist and performer. He was a recipient of a 2010 “Bessie” New York Dance and Performance Award for his work with choreographer Luciana Achugar. He is represented by CANADA Gallery, New York, where he will be presenting new work in March 2012.
