Going Dutch
June 26th, 2009 by Art Department
More and more people are cleaning out old uprights and riding classic, vintage-style bicycles around town. Many of these WWII-era bikes have endured for more than a century and have earned retro cred, making them a fashion-forward statement. The Dutch Bicycle Company brings European standards of practicality, function, and utility combined with style and substance to cycling. The importers of these hand-built bicycles favor comfort and ease before speed and are aiming to change the way people ride and conduct business around the city. The bikes are designed in the Netherlands, the only country in the world with more bicycles than people, hence it's nickname 'the biking capital of the world.' With an array of 3-speeds, cruisers, cargo bikes and more, Dutch Bikes knows the age of the bicycle as an urban transport has come to the U.S. and is striving to design transport well-suited for city cycling. These two-wheelers extend the capabilities of their riders and make daily cycling a ride in the park. - Maureen Wynne
