Baker's Dozen

1. Now you can “grow” your own sneakers! Rayfish Footwear is selling custom kicks made from genetically engineered stingrays. Yes, you read that correctly: stingrays. After removing the skin of these stingrays, a group of scientists etch colorful designs right into the DNA of the fish.

2. Paper bags are no longer just for lunches. OWEN store opened this month in New York's Meatpacking District and features a wall of 25,000 brown paper bags designed as arches from the floor to the ceiling.

3. New York's Hester Street Fair comes to Hollywood! Stop by on Saturday to enjoy the first of four beautifully curated and free to attend events.

4. Did our taste-buds just get hypnotized? Definitely craving some cake (not the Rihanna kind) after watching French director Alexandre Dubosc's video of a Tim Burton-inspired caketrope.

5. Looks like there will be a new dictionary geared towards the more visually inclined. Titled Google, UK artists Felix Hayes and Ben West gave the classic English dictionary an artistic and technological upgrade by inserting photographs and visual cues for about 21,000 words. We wonder how they’ll account for safesearch.

6. Taking inspiration from classic beauties like Sophia Loren and the styling of 50s and 60s women in the South of France, Alice Temperley designed an incredibly ladylike Temperley London Resort 2013 collection. Full of demure silhouettes and bright colors, the collection is best described as timeless.

7. Don't let your eyes fool you! Artist Omar Ortiz's deft hand creates hyper-realistic paintings that can easily pass as photographs.

8. Part of the Bibelot Sexuel collection of design objects by Matteo Cibic, this fish bowl doubles as a pleasure tool. Of course, it's not for the fish...

9. Hoxton Street Monster Supplies has created a line of salt made from human tears. Available in a range of flavors, including Salt Made from Tears Shed While Chopping Onions, the "Salt Made From Tears" line "combines centuries-old craft with the freshest human tears which are gently boiled, released into shallow crystallisation tanks, then harvested by hand and finally rinsed in brine." Yum?

10. We want to put polka dots on everything after watching the new Louis Vuitton video, Princess of Polka Dots, about the brand's upcoming collaborator, Yayoi Kusama.

11. Japanese ad agency I&S BBDO developed a series of designer, laser-cut sushi. The only problem is that they are too pretty to eat!

12. From paper planes to fireworks and even a twisting galaxy, Portland-based designer Mengyu Chen's adorable paper pop-ups are clever as well as delightfully interactive.

13. Consider today your "cheat day," dieters and non-dieters alike, and make a pitstop at the nearest Krispy Kreme on your way home from work. Why, you may ask? Well, because today is Homer Simpson's favorite holiday -- National Donut Day -- and the donuts are free!
