After a five year hiatus, Bill Barminski is back again with his latest exhibit at the Robert Berman Gallery in Santa Monica, "This Side Up." In collaboration with Christopher Louie, known together as Walter Robot, this multi-layered exhibition features Barminski dabbling with sculpture, paint and video, mixing and matching the mediums to encourage his audience to contemplate the nature of our relationship to public art and architecture we see everyday. The teaser video above shows the defacement of famous works from the likes of Banksy, Shephard Fairey and Frank Gehry, or so it would seem. What is for certain is that the exhibition, using textures, sounds, and moving images, provides an entertaining, tactile take on the fleeting image-based world around us.
Currently on view, "This Side Up" runs through October 4th.
