On tour in support of their critically lauded new double LP, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, M83 played to a sold out crowd at Hollywood's Music Box. The much touted "epic" quality of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming translates quite nicely to their stage show. And, as you can expect from a band named after a spiral galaxy, M83 boasts one of the more impressive lighting setups around. The group's frontman, Anthony Gonzalez, described his intention with the record as harkening back to the ambitious double-albums he loved as a teenager, specifically citing the Smashing Pumpkin's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. While mostly a showing off new tracks from the new album, Gonzalez treated the Hollywood crowd to highlights from M83's last two records, including a standout performance of "couleurs," off Saturdays = Youth.
