A Maternal Side

The idea of 'maternal instincts' is an interesting and loaded one. The idea of seeing props and effigies of 'reborn' baby dolls and videos of women with their babies in bizarre circumstances, all focused on the exploration into what maternal instinct even is, seems to be a good one to do this weekend.
California-based visual artist Desiree Holman delves into this murky territory in her first solo museum exhibit, Reborn, which opens this Sunday, November 8 at the Hammer Museum. You'll have until January 31, 2010 to check it out.
