Everyone who has an internet connection has probably heard this track. it's been pitchforked and blogged and hypemachined. But, that doesn't mean we don't think it's the bomb. We've been tracking Mr. Jaar's eclectic productions for a good minute now, but he's never seemed quite so in control as on this track. Vintage record pops lead into the sounds of a synth being slowed down and sped up, minimally introduced vocal snippets, and finally a cohesive little song reminiscent of all those early 2000's labels like Morr Music and Karaoke Kalk. But then, Jaar kicks it into high gear around the five-minute mark, sending the song into a catchy, danceable movement with the song's title repeated by the loveliest chipmunk we've ever heard. Organic and manipulated in the same breathe, Jaar's songs are imminently relatable--they're songs, they're dancy, they're for headphones, and they're really, truly impossible to categorize.
It's out on Jaar's own label, Clown and Sunset, now. Click here for more.
