Revisiting the printing press through Photoshop, Zuckerman incorporates her own strategy of image-making to reveal a more-or-less traditional portrait. Playing with the opposition between ‘nature’ and ‘culture,’ we find Frankenstinian subjects: marvelous and frightening. Known for the ‘anti-natural,’ Zuckerman’s works are included in public collections such as the Rubell Museum, Akron Art Museum, Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art, Emergentes Art Foundation, and Marval Collection. Here, however, Zuckerman takes it a step further. Holding up a funhouse mirror to all that is unnatural about the way we live, the artist comments on our unrelenting appetite for the digital universe. How do all of these influences feed your work?** We are now living in a hyper image-saturated digital world, fueled by the internet. I draw upon multiple influences across art history within a single painting to echo this experience of image-inundation.  **How do you feel the works that inspired yours are communicating through your work?** I think of the references working simultaneously as homage and critique.  **How does contemporary culture find its way into your work?** The language of instantaneity, ephemerality, and maximalism is such a crucial part of social media and I seek to represent this spirit within the paintings.  AllisonZuckermanFLAUNTStudio\_02.jpeg ![AllisonZuckermanFLAUNTStudio_02.jpeg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/1625765521947-AYK6CAECD1IOW19H4CPZ/AllisonZuckermanFLAUNTStudio_02.jpeg)  **How did you land on the title _Drawing Room_?** Because I emphasized drawing techniques; erasing, writing and rewriting, line work, etching, doodling, outline, etc within these paintings, I reflected on what it means to let materials really shine through. I thought of my studio as a place to draw, in effect, a drawing room. Additionally, in a traditional sense, within the home, a _drawing room_ is a place to convene, to talk, to relax, in the company of others. Each woman in these works is singular, but together, they are grouped and harmonize in conversation. They each bring something different to the _Drawing Room,_ a place to meet when so many of us have been isolated because of the pandemic.  **How are you feeling about this being your first European solo exhibition?** It is very exciting to be showing my work to a European audience, especially because so many of my art historical references were European.
