[Bishop Ivy](https://instagram.com/bishopivy) is bringing us his deeply emotional and melancholy new single, “tunnel vision”. The highly absorbing track stems from the downfall of a relationship and the resulting turmoil it created. Named after the feeling of being completely blinded by this relationship, Bishop Ivy felt he couldn't find a way out, other than through music.
The underlying grit in the single gives a force of power reminiscent of James Blake and Imogen Heap. Combining organic analog elements with alternative electronic sounds, the artist's haunting vocals open up a portal of dreamy feelings. "tunnel vision" has an angelic rise and fall before resolving into darker tones. Through soaring strings, he sings, “Running beside the train you ride, I’ll bear cuts and scars but still clutch my arm,” referring to his fear of letting go of a relationship.
Taking a nonconforming approach, Bishop Ivy shares, “This song featured some of my new experiments in production, like recording myself banging around with some tools and turning that into the song’s percussion, and taking a train sample to use sort of as an ominous string section. That ‘beep’ throughout the entire song was from a check-out line at Target, as is revealed in the final few seconds in the song. Camera clicks also make an appearance in the chorus.”
"tunnel vision" follows his 2020 EP, _LIMBO._ The 5-track release was another example of the musician's ability to concoct beautifully sombre alt/pop. Sucking listeners into his own little universe, Bishop Ivy creates avant-garde soundscapes that leave a lasting imprint.
