From attaining the heights of academics and exploring the corridors of the corporate world, to building a digital media empire, Cindy has now spent more than 12 years interviewing the biggest names in the movie, fashion and sports industries and giving their stories a voice. You may have spotted her backstage at an awards ceremony or on the red carpet in New York, Venice, Cannes, or even at the 44th Mill Valley Film Festival in the Bay Area. When she's not attending a film festival or premiere in any of the world's big cities, she's probably getting up close with one of your favorite celebrities. Overtime, Cindy has built a reputation for herself, having interviewed A-list stars like Tessa Thompson, Keanu Reeves, Erykah Badu, Machine Gun Kelly, Charlize Theron, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Timothée Chalamet, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and many more. While growing up with actors and athletes in Los Angeles County birthed the inspiration and passion she needed, there are three main pieces of advice she's received in her lifetime that have helped her stay ahead in a highly competitive industry. She recently shared them with us to help newbies find a footing and navigate through the stormy waters of the business. "If you have a vision and idea you believe in and are excited about, try to get as much support around it as you can. Use that excitement and momentum, as well as the support you have from people in your network and industry to launch your idea and/or project," she begins. For Cindy, that energy and momentum will push you forward through the challenges you're bound to face on your path to success. Beyond that, she says, is the need to surround yourself with like-minded people. "You need to identify your tribe; people who understand your business goals, share your passions, and can help you grow. At the same time, you must ignore those that do not embrace your innovative concepts and all you're doing to forge a new path as an entrepreneur and innovator," she adds. Cindy describes this as shedding off the weights that pull you back and taking along the people that you need for the journey. Finally, you should never perceive temporary setbacks as failure. The popular Talent Publicist and PR professional says you should "view those setbacks as part of your life and business journey. See them as research and opportunities to adjust your strategy and move the needle forward towards your ultimate goal." Otherwise, you'll end up beating yourself up over it. Instead, learn from every experience and use it as motivation to push further. While these three ingredients above will certainly take you places, never underestimate the power of skill. Cindy Maram is a skilled woman herself. After spending a few years in mainstream journalism, she gave herself to learning and picked up skills in photography, Web and graphics design, video production and video editing before launching her digital magazine. She continues to learn the changing trends of the industry and keeps herself updated with social media and trade publications like Variety, Deadline Hollywood and The Hollywood Reporter.
