Critically acclaimed performer, producer, and composer Danielle Eva Schwob just released a deluxe extended version of her debut album _Out of the Tunnel._ Following the release the New York based artist was joined by PUBLIQuartet, harpist Ashley Jackson, cellist Laura Metcalf, along with other special guests for a live performance of music off her classical album.
The event took place on the top floor of New York’s Fotografiska museum where the sound of emotional melodies filled the air. “I am a huge visual art person and the way they present art is the way I like to experience art. For me it was a dream venue to present this project in,” Danielle said.
The museum, known for its unique displays of visual art, was a perfect host for a performance partly inspired by visual art. “Reflections on David Hockney,” the first added track from the deluxe extended edition of _Out of the Tunnel,_ completes the trilogy “Reflections On” which is composed of pieces that reference British painters.
“In my mind creating a self portrait sort of achieves the same end. It is a creative process where you really have to look in the mirror and think openly, without judgement about who you are and how you want to represent yourself, and in some ways that is kind of like the process of writing music. You are constantly looking inwards to see what you can mind and how you can represent that in a way that will communicate with other people.”

The other added tracks include “Traveling North (Flute and Harp Version)” which highlights Schwob’s ongoing desire to adapt her compositions to different instrumentations. As well as “Shiver,” an entirely new composition that offers an alternate ending to the full project.
The performance was accompanied by visuals from the critically acclaimed James Mountford creating a fully immersive experience that highlighted the beauty of change and transition.
Describing her music as “deceptively simple”, Danielle’s newest album _Out of the Tunnel_ is emblematic of a chapter of personal change and transformation. “A lot of it was written during a time that was very introspective for me. I moved to LA looking for something different and it was a tougher transition than I thought it was going to be. One of the ways I found to ground myself was spending a lot of time in nature which is a big theme on the record,” Danielle said.
“The title track was literally inspired by a tunnel. I remember the idea of a tunnel being the central metaphor of change. You go into this chapter of transformation as one thing and it feels sort of dark and murky and you come out the other side as something else; almost like a chrysalis.”
While this is the first classical project Danielle has released, it comes after her critically acclaimed pop project DELANILA’s _Overloaded,_ released in 2020. Which NPR Music noted, “It really creates a world…a huge record.” _The New York Times_ also highlighted the track “It’s Been A While Since I Went Outside” in its weekly Playlist feature.
Aiming to create music that invites people in, _Out of the Tunnel_ does just that, encapsulating themes of nature and transition. Danielle Eva Schwob’s classical record celebrates the ebbs and flows of getting to know oneself and the power that comes with transition.
