Otherwise known as Mohammad Reza Sadehi, DJ Phellix was born in Tehran, Iran and is currently based in Malaga, Spain. He has been featured on the famous Buddha Bar album and signed over 20 tracks with international labels. With a background of playing the electric guitar, he is a versatile musician, DJ and a music producer. He currently runs his own record label, Ario Records.
As a child, his interest in music, especially Rock, led him to become an electric guitarist, and in several Rock bands, he played Rhythm Guitar in a variety of Genre. On the other hand, his interest in traditional Iranian music Led him to combine Iranian music with Western music. He entered the field of Electronic Music in 2012 with DJing. He became acquainted with Ableton software in 2016. Since 2018, he has professionally released his works in the style of Deep House. He is known for his international collaborations in deep house music.
He seeks to introduce oriental music, especially Iranian music, Persian poetry, as well as to introduce Iranian instruments in the form and space of Electronic Music (Deep House) to Music enthusiasts around the world.
One such venture is the Navaei Track by DJ Phellix and Amir Sheykh, a song worthy to be played on loop. The song is composed from the folklore music of Khorasan, one of the modern provinces of Iran. Maquami music Is a type of music that is related to the songs, instruments and the melodies of the regions of Iran. It also includes a large part of Arabic and Turkish music. The most famous song in Khorasan maquami music is called “Navaei”. Khorasan maqami is one of the most famous music in the folk style, worldwide thanks to the grace and art of its artists.
Artists who made instruments, played songs and sang poems hundreds of years ago according to their events, customs and traditions, and those songs and poems have been passed down from generation to generation until today, when their beautiful voices are not only heard in every corner of this land, but also in the world. For this reason, one should always expect unique and fresh performances of this traditional local melody. Therefore, in 2020, two Iranian musicians tried to bring a different version of the song by combining Khorasan maquami music with electronic music . With the reconstruction of the melody of this Muqam by Amir Sheykh and composing and arrangement of Mohammad Reza Sadehi, An attempt was made to make this lasting peace in a different style come on deep house in a new version with electronic arrangement, to be dedicated to music lovers around the world the new version of Navaei was released in June 2020 from the label of “Cafe de Anatolia” in North Macedonia.
Another modern deep house track by DJ Phellix, “ Bar Sabze Neshin” Has changed the way of observing the new age electronic music and oriental divisions of EDM.
It got featured on Buddha Bar album number twenty three and also found third track spot on Buddha Bar’s album Deep Sessions in 2020 which was also charted on top hundred Beatport deep house releases.
The magnificent and huge positive feedback from the audience proved that the music is not about the race or lyrics as it was sung in Persian language “Farsi” and proved that souls no matter what ethnicity, will always get connected by the language of music. The poetry used in lyrics, was derived out of two wonderful well known poems from “The Rubaiyat” by famous Persian mathematician,astronomer, philosopher, and poet called “Omar Khayyam” of which we know a memorable worldwide fame and reputation.
As obvious, using one of the very traditional poems and singing it in a solid traditional style, combining it with the modern structures of EDM and deep house specifically, and moreover, using of the historical and magical instrument “Tar” rooted in the land of Persia from centuries ago, shows the real purpose of this divine combination. The artist also has 1.3 million streams in 2021 in spotify. His upcoming track “Ashke Setareh” ft. Rohaab will appear on Buddha- Bar album on 4rth of February, 2022.
One of the most viral Persian Deep House “Man Koja Baran Koja” by Dj Phellix is an official remix for Houmayoun Shajarian, a famous singer in Iran. Globestats said it is the most viral Persian deep house track. It was a massive contribution and perhaps a history making collaboration. Even now, this track is one of the most famous Persian deep house tracks worldwide and is the most viral tradition and oriental deep house track using Persian lyrics and vocals with no exaggerations made.
The track “Hold Me” by the artist was released by a famous label called SOAVE from Netherlands and has hit 538000 streams until now.
