[Felix Cartal](https://www.instagram.com/felixcartal) is here to bless the masses with timeless music. With over 270 million Spotify stream alone, the Vancouver-based DJ and producer has 3 Platinum singles to his name: “Get What You Give," "Love Me," and "Mine,” on top of taking home the award for Dance Recording of the Year at Junos 2020.  Now, he returns with yet another standout collaboration: “Happy Hour” featuring pop songstress [Kiiara.](https://flaunt.com/content/kiiara-finding-herself-on-her-debut-album-lil-kiiwi) The single itself serves as an uplifting record with honest, personal lyrics, setting the tone for the year of 2021. Inspired by lyrical concepts that began as a phrase or note in his phone, Felix sees “Happy Hour” as a universal concept—something we all can take away and benefit from. Felix states, “Inherently there’s something slightly sad about the concept of happy hour, so when writing this with Hanne Mjøen & Jim Bergsted in Norway, we approached the lyrics from that angle and felt we found a direction to make a light concept feel a lot heavier. I grew up playing in punk bands so the dive bar aesthetic (featured in the music video) is something that feels really comfortable to me. Production-wise, I approached it from this same direction, with the addition of chanting gang vocals, a trope from punk rock music, as well as dive bar karaoke nights.” The collab with Kiiara arrives on the heels of their previous collab on “Feels,” released a few years ago. After becoming internet friends, the two remained fans of each other’s artistry… until “Happy Hour” came to fruition.  Kiiara adds, “I want fans to feel less alone, that's why I create music. I've felt alone in life. I still do and it's a very empty feeling that no one should ever experience, yet some of us do. When I listen to music or artists I'm a fan of, their music makes me feel like I'm not the only one who feels a certain way about something. In a way it's reassurance/validation. I want my music to help people the way their music helps me.” At the end of the day, music is the universal language. Stream “Happy Hour” above!
