An only child growing up in Southern California, real name Chase Blohm spent his Saturday mornings watching music videos and dreaming big, while working from the confines of his bedroom. His sound transcends the genres of pop, hip-hop, R&B, and alt rock, described as “an effervescent mix coming out of a minivan leaving a school parking lot in 2008.” Newly signed to Interscope, contradash premieres the official music video for his new single “White Lie,” exclusively on Flaunt. The record itself is produced by Russ Chell (Lil Nas X, Juice WRLD), touching on the topics of deception and toxic relationships. The cinematic visual full-heartedly captures the raw and emphatic emotions injected within each lyric, highlighting his ability to create his own unique lane in an oversaturated music industry. Contradash states, “We wanted to make some Avril Lavigne 2002 shit with this video, she’s a hero to kids my age. I watched her ‘Smile’ video, it really inspired me to go in that direction. The 2000’s is my favorite era, I didn’t take life as serious, and that’s something we tried to embody with the ‘White Lie’ video.” Contradash’s name is a play on Night Lovell’s song “Contraband.” “White Lie” follows the release of his most recent single “blocked,” which landed #12 on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist.
