While walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, English songstress Katherine Abbott met a man named Lucas. He was an opera singer turned nomad, who had lost his voice. The encounter was the inspiration for Abbott’s new song, “Lullaby For Lucas,” a light, melodic track about the intricacies of our relationships.
"Writing Lullaby for Lucas was the first time that I felt a song expressed so honestly the way I feel
about life and humanity as a whole - the song is an ode to forgiveness,” said Abbott. “I’ve always felt passionately about the topics it touches upon , listening to people and their stories
without judgement and appreciating how everyone is striving through life’s difficulties; evolving and
adapting against the odds. One’s circumstances can change in an instant.”
“Lullaby For Lucas” evokes the atmosphere in which is was written, somewhere on a pilgrim path through the countryside, where it may be easier to see people as they are.
“It was inspired by one of those magic nights in a remote village bar where a group of people find
themselves unified somehow by winding up in the same place at the same time on their journey;
playing music and telling stories until the early hours. I think people can become the purest versions
of themselves when they’re living in the moment, producing an honesty that can be hard to find
when living within the rigid everyday pressures and structures of society,'“ said Abbott.
