This badass female rapper from Dallas, Texas creates nothing but bangers, and fans can’t get enough. Sporting an adorable lisp with a flow reminiscent of a Southern twang, the 27-year-old is one of the hardest female rappers of our generation. In 2018, she released “Trapper’s Delight,” and the rest was history. Beyond the music, Tay remains authentic and true to who she is at all times. Boasting 379K followers on Instagram alone, it’s her very loyal fanbase that’s always begging for new music. Now she taps the Bay Area’s own Saweetie for the remix to “Bussin,” with “Bussin 2.0” premiering exclusively on Flaunt.  The song’s original music video currently hails over 8.7 million views on Youtube and counting.  The crazy part is, the Icy queen herself reached out to Tay via Instagram DM… one of Tay’s favorite artists! She spits on the record, “I feel like a whole brand new bitch, bitch I’m bussin!” Tay Money creates slappers, shit you can’t help but move to when it comes on in the club. Flaunt caught up with Tay Money who was camped out in Chicago for the weekend, escaping the fact that her hometown in Texas was completely shut down due to COVID-19. Read below as we discuss the making of “Bussin,” how Saweetie ended up on the record, her dream collab, and even took questions from the fans. **How’s it out there in Chicago?** I have some friends out here. Texas was open, then it shut back down. It spoked, because they opened the bars and everything. I came out to Chicago because it’s safer out here. When they were first in their lockdown, they held it down pretty good so their numbers haven’t jumped. It’s been pretty safe out here. The weather’s so beautiful. It’s not as hot as Texas but you're still kind of getting a sun tan, I love it.  **What have you been up to since the last time I saw you?**  Man, I’ve been making new music. Honestly, I’m figuring out my sound. I think I got it with my next EP. I was rap, then I was pop, then I took rap pop and smushed it all together. I’m so proud. I’m literally very hard to please and I’m so proud of my next project. **Is there a title?**   No, that’s the fucking problem. \[laughs\] This whole week I’ve been jotting down every little idea I possibly could think in a notebook. It’s full of them, I’m going through them right now.  **Let’s talk about Saweetie on the “Bussin” remix!** I love Saweetie so much.  **Bring us back to the studio session for “Bussin,” were you feeling yourself?** I was in LA when I very first started. This is me experiencing music for the very first time, I’d take all my friends with me. I had 4 homegirls, my producer, my best guy friend named Sam (he makes music). We were so turnt and lit, I had my Crown and Coke. I’d just left my first show in LA, we came back afterwards and I said the hook out loud. I said “I want to make a song that sounds like \[this\].” I said it, he started making the beat around my words. Next thing you know, we’re in there dancing, going crazy. We didn’t know what it’d do of course, we were vibing out.  **What does it mean to get Saweetie on the remix? How did that happen?** It’s crazy, she DMed me and “Tay Money.” Out of nowhere. It was God's gift, that's how I know it was meant to happen. Everything has aligned for me right now. She literally hit me up like “bro, I wanna get on ‘Bussin’.” I’m like “bitch say less, I’m sending an open \[verse\] right now.” She’s the first superstar to actually go out of her way to fuck with me.  **And it was so organic.** That feels so good. I told her “anything you ever need in life, I got you. Say less.” **Did you see she mentioned it on her IG Story last night?**  I did see it. She commented on the picture I posted and said “me and Tay Money, Bussin’.” That’s one of her lines on it. She really came correct on it. Most people give a feature and if it’s not their song, maybe they won’t go 100%. She definitely gave me 200%, it was fabulous. It was awesome.  **What is the concept of the video? Besides bad bitches link up.** I have a problem sometimes pronouncing words, but it’s off of this movie _Marie Antoinette_. It’s Renaissance, like little maid outfits. It’s so cute. **How was the video shoot with Saweetie?** She was even better in person. She’s so peaceful, so down-to-earth. It’s like I was talking to a homegirl I knew, I felt really comfortable. I’m not gon’ lie to you, I was nervous. I didn't know what she was gon’ be like. I got there and she was great.  **The original video is at 8.7 million views on Youtube, so this one’s going to go…**   Bro, it’s going to go dum da-da-dum da dum dum! That’s my baby, I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better way.  **What was your mom’s reaction when you sent her the Youtube plaque?** I had it sent to my mama’s house because I was out of town, I wanted to make sure it’s safe. I live in an apartment, she lives in a house. She got it and sent me a little picture of her reflection in, it was so cute. I wanted her to have it, I wanted it to be hers. She loved it, I love it. It feels like a dream come true. I can’t wait for it to keep going up more.  **How was linking with Fredo Bang on “Lil Mama”?** It was so good. He got in the studio and did his verse so fast, I love that song. I love melodic records. I wish I made more melodic stuff, so it was a good balance and a nice mix. I love that song. We hit a million views on Youtube, so I’m happy with that.  **Have you experimented with the melodic style?** I have a little bit. I have a few of them but for some reason, I need more to turn up. Bad bitch, ready to go to the club music.  **How have you been with quarantine? Have you been itching to get outside?** Yes, I’m excited to get back to life. But I want to make sure everyone does it right because the world is so dull right now. Every time I turn around, there’s bad news. I can’t handle any more bad news, I’m sure the world feels like that too.  **3 things you need in the studio?**  Crown. Sam ([@guitaremoji](https://www.instagram.com/guitaremoji/)), I need him in the studio at all times. The next thing would be chicken wings. Your girl loves chicken wings.  **Do you have a go-to spot?** In Miami, I like Snappers or The Licking. In Dallas, I like Rudy’s or Shell Shack. No offense to LA, but I don’t really like LA food. I need the lemon pepper.  **Kaash Paige was just telling me she misses Dallas food out here!** I swear I know she  feels me because Dallas food is a whole nother level. I didn’t know she was staying in LA but I bet she comes home soon, because there;s nothing like Texas food. **How would you describe your fashion style?** I love the Y2K era, the year 2000 when MTV Hits was a thing. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, I sit there and watch their videos like “I want to look like that.” I like brands like Hot Kids, Miss Sixty, all that old shit. I be peeping on Poshmark, it’s this app where people sell used clothes. You can thrift for whatever you want, you can find it.  **What’s your favorite song you dropped so far?** I love “Trapper's Delight,” “Trapper’s Delight” broke me out, it’s everything. But my favorite song I’ve ever dropped is called “Tay Money” by Tay Money. “Taaaaaaaay!” You turn it on, it’s so lit. **Do you miss the club? Were you out before all this?** I miss the club, but the only reason I really go to the club is if I lowkey got paid to go. If I’m not fully taken care of, I don’t want to be there. I need the table section, the bottles, the security, all that shit. Fuck yeah I miss that shit, but honestly I have fun new ways to make myself useful and happy. I’ve realized that I love parks. I don’t usually do that in Dallas, I love that shit. I go to the dog park and I don't even have a dog. I play with everybody else's dogs.  **What advice do you have for an upcoming artist?** Honestly, know the music industry. Know what you’re getting into. Figure out what all the terms mean and what you agree to, you need to know it all. You need a really, really good producer, like he’s yours. You keep him on your arm, “hey let’s make this beat real quick.” Make sure he can engineer too, catching the song in the moment is really key.  **Someone asked, do you need an intern?**  The thing is people think this line of work is easy. They go “I can do what she needs,” but you probably can’t because I need a lot of shit. I want somebody who day to day works with me, and we grow together. I want you to have nothing going on so we can do this together. I don’t have an assistant, but I have a stylist  named Mary. She’s my go-to for everything, she keeps me sane.. Even though she doesn't handle any legal matters, she handles everything else. I owe her.  **What’s a main goal that you haven’t achieved yet?** I want to make the Billboard Hot 100. I’d like to make the charts, I’d like to chart. That’d be crazy. I’ve made the Spotify charts, but I’m talking about real Billboard Top 10. That’s when I’ll know “okay, you can sit back and relax for a second.” **Someone asked, do you recommend paid advertising?**  Yeah I do, because sometimes people need to be seen. They have everything it takes, they just don't have the right platform. They don’t have enough eyes on them. I don’t have enough eyes on me. Once the right people see me, I’m going to take off. I don't consider myself taken off yet. Once who needs to see me sees me, it’s a whole ‘nother Tay Money.  **Favorite person to follow on IG?** Damn, that’s hard. I like to see your puppies and your grandparents on my Instagram. I want to see your real life, I don’t want to see any of that shit for clout. I don't care how clean your outfit is, I want the real deal you.  **Everyone’s asking for Meezy.** When I first got some money, I bought a puppy. His name’s Meezy, I raised him for a really long time (about a year). Never in my life did I have a puppy that’s potty trained. He’s so potty trained and so smart. You could point your fingers at him, he’d lay down and die. It’s insane. I lived in downtown Dallas in a skyscraper, I know he’s miserable. My best friend Sam has a backyard, 2 kittens, 2 kids. Meezy now lives with them so I can still be with and see Meezy, but I know he’s a lot happier. I had to do what’s best for Meezy. I’m looking to get a house soon with a backyard, it’s going to be puppy central. I’m getting a pig, a puppy, I’m getting it all. I want a horse, all that.  **Favorite rapper at the moment?**  He’s from Chicago, his name’s Calboy. They sleep on Calboy, he’s the best. I’ma get one in with him for sure. The way his words flow and the way he rides the beat is impeccable.  **Anything else you want to let us know?** Tay Money, Bussin! That shit’s going crazy, I want to chart. Ya’ll better stand up up up!
