Pelayo - who displays a extraordinary level of technical skill (and one which I have, personally, rarely seen outside of the greatest renaissance painters in history) can quite simply be described as a head on crash collision between that period - and Street Art.

His pieces are the perfect juxtaposition between the classical style imagery he depicts and his meticulously rendered brushwork vs the loose expressionistic overlaid drips with the use of oil paints, spray paint, and oil sticks. Growing up (and through) constant turmoil and violence as a chilld , a young Pelayo says that he “met escape and peace within the confines of himself and his own creativity.”

After dropping out of college, Pelayo pivoted his approach, and changed his hyperrealistic pencil portraits to a different medium - opting to work with oil paints, and his passions grew more immensely. He lists his influences as Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Velazquez as well as graffiti artists such as RETNA, Shepard Fairey, and EL MAC.

Isaac is becoming something of a ‘Must Have” for Collectors, and some of the many notable buyers of his work include Sean “Diddy” Combs, Benny The Butcher, Jeff Hamilton, Shepard Fairey, Jaysse Lopez, Everlast of House of Pain and Alvin “Westside Gunn” Worthy. Pelayo even created several album covers and artworks for Westside Gunn’s Griselda Records label, as well as for his personal collection.
