[Kelsi Davies](https://www.instagram.com/kelsiidaviess/?hl=en) is the definition of a multi-hyphenate, someone who is skilled in many different areas and can hardly be put into a box. Hailing from Colorado but growing up in California, Davies is a YouTuber, dancer, actress, singer, psychic medium, and [TikToker boasting over](https://www.tiktok.com/@kelsiidaviess?lang=en) 3.6 million followers and over 93 million likes.
A true definition of a content creator if there ever was one, Davies is best known for posting her own twist on paranormal content, hilarious acting skits, and dope choreography. Her YouTube page is a similar success story, a platform where she gives fans an inside scoop on a day in the life of Kelsi Davies, and uploads original music as well as behind-the-scenes videos of all her paranormal adventures.
Not all of us can tell the future, but Davies has been blessed with family genetics and the ability to connect with spirits from a young age. Additionally, she’s a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community who encourages audiences around the world to embrace their sexuality and be their unapologetic selves.
On the music tip, Davies released the official music video for her [single titled “Heartbeats,”](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSODi5sR29kV3UZQdHerPtw) which was inspired by finding her true self after leaving a toxic relationship. _Flaunt_ caught up with Davies via Zoom from her home in Irvine, California. Read below as we discuss her upbringing in Southern California, her ability to connect with spirits, how she gained a presence online, her love for the paranormal, first viral moment, background dancing, doing her own makeup, advice for building a fanbase, and more!
**You’re from Colorado, when did you move to California?**
I moved to California when I was six years old but a lot of my family still lives in Colorado, so I’m pretty close to that side. We moved here for my dad’s job. I’ve basically grown up here, but I was raised by people from Colorado. People are different you know, here and there.
**Do you feel California influenced you to do what you do now?**
Yeah if I didn’t live here, I wouldn’t be doing everything I’m doing right now. There are a lot more opportunities here. Everything happens for a reason, so there’s a reason we moved out here when I was young. I was very shy when I was little. I had really bad social anxiety. A lot of it had to do with the psychic stuff I didn’t understand. I’d feel people’s energy around me and I wouldn’t understand things I was seeing. It caused a lot of anxiety in my life when I’m actually a really talkative person, so I grew up as the shy girl.
**How did you land into this world of being a psychic medium?**
I’ve had the ability since I was little, it runs in my family. There’s a Native American side in my family that they all had psychic and medium abilities, which I didn’t know until quite recently. I grew up not really understanding my gifts and not really knowing why I knew certain things that other people didn’t know, or why I felt things. I didn’t understand it, I thought that it was all normal. I was born psychic and started getting into my mediumship.
My mediumship, I always knew that spirits there but I was terrified of them. I couldn’t close my eyes in the shower. I was really scared of them because I didn’t understand it, but now I have a way better understanding of how I connect with spirits. It all flourished this year. I don't know if it’s the age I’m at or what, but it’s pretty crazy. \[laughs\]
**How does it work? Are you able to see the future?**
I get downloads if I’m talking with you or talking to someone, I get images. Visions come to me about people’s past, their future, or something they’re struggling with right now. Or I’ll see my future. I’ve seen my kids, I’ve seen my death. I know how I’m going to die.
**Wait, how are you going to die?!**
I get really sick and I’m in the hospital. From my own peripheral vision, I see my tattoos. I have some new ones that I don’t have right now. I see my hands, they’re older. I have tubes in my nose, then everything goes dark.
**That’s insane!**
It’s creepy for sure. It has its ups and downs. I’ll walk by someone and I’ll see something dark with them, or I’ll see something they’ve done in the past. Bad things sometimes, so it’s just a way of handling it that I had to learn. Now that I’ve delved more into it, I know a little more about how to handle it.
**Are you big on energy then?**
Yeah, I stay away from certain people because there’s something there I don’t like. I see people’s auras, so I stay away from people with certain colors in their auras.
**Did you think you’d become this social media star you are today?**
I honestly knew from a young age that I was going to be in the public eye. I always had visions of it. I always knew, I just didn’t know how it would manifest. Sometimes I see things, but I don't know how I get there. I know it’s going to happen, but it’s always still surprising to me. I’m still so grateful and shocked about everything that has happened to me.
**How did you fall into this world of social media and YouTube?**
I started on YouTube, my best friend Mady and I started a channel together called [Mady and Kelsi](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRgjCI3FcPYt1M2naTVSMmg). I was so new to YouTube and she was super into it. I said “let’s try it!” We started posting videos, little challenges here and there. I found [OmarGoshTV](https://www.youtube.com/user/omargoshtv) on YouTube, he went to the most haunted places in the world. I’d see things in his videos and hear things. I said “oh my gosh, I want to experience that.” Even though I was so terrified, I knew I wanted to experience it. I knew I had something and that something was drawing me to this, I need to go do it.
We met up with him, he was super nice to us. I was a big fan, so I was all excited. We started doing a lot of paranormal videos. We eventually split off under our own channels because she didn’t want to do that all the time, rightfully so. So now we each do our own thing. I kept doing the paranormal stuff. I brought it over to TikTok, and people really seem to like it over there too.
**Do you remember your first viral moment?**
The first video that went viral wasn’t a personal video, it was actually a Karen moment. A Starbucks employee put their hand in my drink and I saw it happen, so I complained about it online. I was really upset about it, I called the manager and they didn’t give me a refund or anything. That was the first video of mine that went viral online.
Then I got Lola, my haunted doll, and her videos started to pop off. Ever since I said I was going to get, her people have been invested. That’s when I guess my channel started to become popular.
**I love your paranormal videos, the content is so clever. Do you practice? How did you end up in this space?**
I do practice, there’s a lot of spirits that come to me daily. In my apartment, I’ll do readings on Instagram for people. I’ll do readings to practice. I always tell them “this is free, I’m practicing. Hang in there.” But I always get crazy things, things that no one would know. Spirits will show me a signed baseball they had, or a certain necklace. Things that are very specific. Once I realized I could really tap into that, I started practicing. I guess doing it daily is practicing. Meditating and all that.
**What did it mean to be featured on Travel Channel’s _Paranormal Caught On Camera_?**
That was crazy! We went to the Bracken Fern Manor, there was this door that slammed on video. A lot of weird stuff happened in that house. _Paranormal Caught On Camera_ emailed me and said “hey, we saw this video. We really would like to use it on our show.” I was so stoked! I was like “oh my gosh, I’m finally getting seen!”
I’d spend hours editing and I worked so hard. I would spend hours working on something and no one was watching it. It’s so frustrating. Once they picked me up, it felt like I was finally getting somewhere! They did a Skype call with me and asked about my experience. I hope they feature more of me on there, it is a good place to put my stuff out.
**You appeared in short films _60 Seconds to Die, Control C.E., and The Walking Dead in the Hood._ Do you want to move into the film world as well?**
Yes, I’ve done a lot of little commercials here and there. Small acting gigs and music videos. Now I have my own music videos, so that’s pretty cool. I always wanted to be the star, but I was always an extra. I really want to get more into acting. I want to get an agent and go for it to see what happens.
**Talk about making music also, has that been your passion all along?**
I’ve always loved to sing and I’d do impressions here and there. I didn’t take singing classes, I still want to, but I’ve always had a passion for it. I met two super talented artists from London named Comanavago, and they’ve helped me put together three songs now. I definitely want to release more. It’s fun for me. I love making the music videos: directing, producing, and doing what I can. I definitely want to do more with Comanavago, they’ve helped me a lot with my music.
**I started my own show** [**Shirley’s Temple**](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9UDIh_uRzgyboG41tZKQbQ) **and YouTube has been the hardest journey. What worked for you?**
It’s honestly so much work. People see YouTubers and think “oh, I can do that!” They don’t realize the work that goes into it. People who go and post some things then give up, it’s not going to work. You have to be consistent and believe you can do it, no matter what anyone else says. People would tell me “you need to go get a real job, this isn’t working” because it wasn’t growing, I said “I know I can do this. I believe in myself.”
You have to believe in yourself. Know if you post consistently, go live, talk to your fans… you’re creating a community. Whatever energy that community has, if it’s negative or positive, that’s yours. You have to make sure you connect with them in a positive way. They end up staying if you keep doing consistent videos and including them.
**How much time do you spend on one video?**
Oh my gosh, so much time. I have to travel, so sometimes the videos cost a lot of money to make. To get content I have to go places and stay at haunted hotels. It’s definitely worth it though, it’s an investment I make to provide this content and go experience these things. It’s cool that it’s my job now, I’m so grateful.
I worked two jobs at one point: I was a gymnastics coach and a dance teacher. I did website design and livestreaming on DLive. I was finding ways to make money. I was pushing myself so hard, then YouTube finally caught up. Now, it’s my income. You just have to keep going with it.
**How does it feel to have 3.6 million followers on** [**TikTok?**](https://www.tiktok.com/@kelsiidaviess?lang=en) **Now more than ever, the platform is relevant.**
It’s crazy. Honestly, I’m just so grateful every day. It’s been such an amazing, yet hard journey. I’m grateful for everything. I can’t believe how fast it’s growing. I hope it continues to grow and people continue to follow me on my journey.
**Do you have any advice or tips on growing a following?**
Just have fun and don’t take it too seriously. Have fun with it and always have good lighting. TikTok likes great lighting. Use hashtags, post consistently, and have fun. Be your authentic self and people will start to like you for who you are.
**Do you do your own makeup too?**
Yeah, I do my own makeup. I edit. I do everything myself, which is bad but also good. I also do graphic design, too. I should probably hire people to help me but I’m so OCD that I have to have it my way.
**How did you learn how to edit? You taught yourself?**
Yeah, my friends and I would mess around on iMovie when we were little. I taught myself Final Cut Pro and started getting into it. I taught myself graphic design, and I had a business for a while that was focused on it.
**Talk about your love for dance as well.**
I absolutely love it. I was acting and I found this flyer for Solid Hip Hop. I started taking dance classes and fell in love with it. I was so introverted back then, and dance became my way to release my energy, release any negativity. It was my meditation and it helped me so much. I started to teach dance when I was about 16 or 17, and I began choreographing. I performed at places like the Staples Center. When I was 18, I got even more into it. I’ve danced for Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas. I’ve also done a bunch of music videos.
**How was dancing for Ariana Grande?**
It was awesome, she was really sweet. I wasn’t in it a lot, but it was a really cool and fun experience working with her. She was very nice, and I had a great time.
**What’s your relationship with Lisa Vanderpump?**
I went to the Vanderpump Dogs event last month and met her there. It was a good cause to help dogs that are being sold in countries that eat animals. The Foundation is saving and rescuing them. There were a lot of rescue dogs there, and it was just a great cause. I’ve only met Lisa once and she was really sweet. I really love the mission of her foundation.
**What can we expect next?**
