With her empowering pop anthems and badass, independent energy, this LA-based hyperpop icon invites her listeners to get up and dance when they’re feeling low. And today, Kit shares her latest track. Spoiler alert: it’s a bop. “Solo Disco” is a much-needed track about celebrating yourself. Featuring thumping basslines, high energy synth melodies, and a four-on-the-floor beat, “Solo Disco” is a hyperpop hit that’s made for the dance floor. Throw it on when you’re feeling low or when you’re feeling yourself, and Kit’s infectious energy and addictive hooks will get you up and dancing in no time. We’ve all felt down in the dumps before, and sometimes we need a pick-me-up. “Solo Disco” is the perfect antidote.  _Flaunt_ had the pleasure of chatting with Kit this week to chat about her new release: what inspired it, her writing process, and the joy of returning to live music.  **Love your new single “Solo Disco,” can you tell us a little bit about the song?** This song is for anyone who’s given everything they have and ended up feeling alone in heartbreak. One of my favorite lines in “Solo Disco” is “love is a dance, it shouldn’t be this hard”—because when it’s right, it’s right. Love shouldn’t be one-sided or wear you down.  **That’s so relatable. What was your writing process behind this song?** I wrote this song a couple years ago on my piano, then put it on the backburner. It was a favorite to play for me and my best friend when we would jam, but one day I thought “I really like this song, I think it needs to come to life!” “Solo Disco” is a 3 and a half minute world I can live in where I have this mighty confidence to do and say what I want and how I really feel. It really feels like having a heart to heart with yourself on the dance floor. **What was it like performing it live for the first time? Given the message behind the track, it must’ve felt pretty powerful, right?** This song has quickly become my favorite to perform live. I debuted “Solo Disco” in Chicago at the beginning of September and it was wild to have everyone dancing together, while singing to a song that’s about being confident alone and braving the unknown. You can be in lonely situations, but it doesn’t mean that you’re alone and that’s what this song means to me.
