LA-based label Mind of a Genius, the team behind ZHU, Gallant, and THEY., have added yet another scene-shaper to their roster with live electronic producer and vocalist mindchatter. Giving Flaunt the exclusive premiere for his new video, “Night Goggles,” the budding artist checks all the boxes when it comes to transcending reality and taking us to that powerfully emotive place with today’s release. The visual piece is a subtle metaphor for appreciating different perspectives and stepping into someone else’s shoes - or in this case, someone else’s goggles. The main character moves from dreary black and white New York City streets to a 3D-playground full of sprawling floral fields and warm sunsets, effortlessly picking up the tender melodies of the track. mindchatter has drawn creative inspiration from the teachings and practices of Taoism, reflecting on the human condition and a life beyond his own. Said mindchatter on the collaboration: “The song describes seeing the world through a more light-hearted and cosmic point of view and the video demonstrates this shift in perspective perfectly. It shows a character being transported from his dreary reality to a colorful, surreal world and becoming invisible in the process.”

Said the Directors: "The song reminds us of being free from everyday burdens, so we thought of a character that has no physical being to represent that idea. We wanted to convey a proper story, thus, the man who finds a pair of goggles that changes his life came into our minds. The next step was to emphasize escapism as the main goal, hence, the real shoot versus the dreamy 3D part came into place. On the streets of Saigon, our friend and DP Ray Lavers quickly did the real-life shoots in 2 hours during the quarantine time. To make sure our main character conveyed a sense of freedom, we thought dancing was the best way to portray that, especially when the character is invisible. We asked our choreographer La Zung to do a quick freestyle on top of the music, and used motion-capture to create the 3D animation. Vicki and I worked together to create the worlds and rhythms inside the music video that are supposed to deliver the feeling of being free. With the help of Aurea studio, the sound design was added and our friend Cao Hoang Long to help on the graphic title design. It is not like we knew every step what the MV was gonna look like but we wanted to be free to create, just like the song itself.”
