Inspired by the likes of Gloria Estefan, Missy Elliott, and Beyonce, the 25-year-old blends multiple cultures in her music, yielding her own lane of Latin trap and R&B.
Boasting 947K followers on Instagram alone, the Barcelona, Spain-based artist describes herself as “a musician who likes to explore new sounds, a vanguard for sharing the music I love and the music from my youth. I love to work with irony. I also love to share myself. I am honest in my lyrics and talk about the emotions and feelings living as a woman and a human in current times.”

**Being born in Argentina and raised in Spain, what was that like growing up?**
Being a young child crossing the ocean, discovering a new culture and way of life, is challenging and interesting. It was a learning process to grow up in a new place from what was home. I'm stronger from that.
**At what point did you realize this music thing was for real, that you could do it for a living?**
When I was 20 years old. I’ve played music and made art since I was a child. I discovered art was my passion at an early age. I worked in hotels and restaurants singing. When I was 19 years old, I covered songs from Etta James and Frank Sinatra. I started to become known on the internet, then one day I became famous. \[laughs\] My hip-hop performances in particular started to connect to people in a massive way and people started to share my music and my work.
**Congrats on the release of your debut album, _CALAMBRE._ How was the creative process?**
It was a long process that began two years ago when I was on tour. I wrote lyrics and recorded ideas and then went to the studio and started to broaden the ideas. One day, it became a reality when I began working with producers and musicians I admire. I wanted to make sure I shared emotions, to share something special. My purpose and focus for my music is to make fans feel something.
**How does it feel to be Latin Grammy-nominated for the first time?**
I feel gratitude. It means so much to me. It's such an honor to be recognized. The recognition I take with this nomination is so important for me because I worked so hard to represent the music around the world. Being validated by colleagues, my companions, and the industry is so special for me. I feel so grateful to everyone who helped me reach this part of my life and this moment of my career.
**What was your reaction when you found out?**
Ah, I was so excited! I was doing my nails in a stressful moment before my ‘_CALAMBRE’_ album release. My manager called and said “Nathy, you are nominated!” I was so excited I started to run down the street. Wow, I can't believe it! \[screams\] It was amazing. I also called my mother and told her right away. We were both so excited and happy. It was a memorable moment.
**“SANA SANA” has a crazy visual, what story were you trying to tell?**
“SANA SANA” is a song that talks about my roots and knowledge of the political situation in my country (Argentina). It’s also reflective of other countries, as many are having difficult times. It's a message of hope and being strong. Taking your strengths to never give up. That’s our shit and we know how to leave that shit. I am proud of myself and my people. It feels sensational, like we are all one family.
I love to do hip-hop, I feel at home when I rap.
**Who are some rappers that you like?**
I admire Missy Eliott, Foxy Brown, Timbaland, Dr. Dre. All the types of rap are interesting to me. You can look at Wu-Tang Clan in one moment or something more rooted in another and it's amazing. I connect with Missy and Timbaland from that era.
**What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?**
I’m proud of my roots, my language and my culture. It's an honor to represent it around the world and to share it. I learn more about my roots every year, from other countries and Hispanic cultures around the world. It's amazing, it's a time to celebrate.
**You said you're really tired, what do you do for fun? What do you do to decompress?**
I really want to eat. \[laughs\] This is my favorite moment, eating. I love to skate too. I'm living and working for my new album “Calambre” but when I have time, I watch films, eat healthy things, discover new music, and share with my people, my family.
**What was the best memory shooting “BUSINESS WOMAN?**
It was so fun because I created different characters for the video. The best part was when I represented the devil because the character was so powerful. It made me feel new things -- I thought “wow, I love this character. I feel comfortable in this character.” It was a cool moment to share this with the crew, then later with the public.
**What are you most excited for with your debut album out now?**
That it’s out! \[laughs\] It’s the best that I can finally share my debut album with my people. I can hear their opinions and feelings about my work.
**What songs means the most to you and why?**
Every song represents a piece of me because I wrote every song. The album represents a lot of my life. “PURO VENENO” is a song that I feel so deeply connected to. And “BUENOS AIRES” talks about all my nostalgia and memories of home. Every song is special for me, I cannot pick only one.
**I love the song “CELEBRE,” what was your energy recording that one?**
It’s a song that honors the most important things in life. It’s about putting yourself first before material things and making self improvements to strengthen your emotions before taking a materialistic approach. It's intended as a powerful song to empower others. It says, I don’t know what’s coming tomorrow, but I know what’s up tonight, so I’m going to put my energy there to celebrate.
