Hailing from Nashville, the rising star combines the genres of pop, soul, blues, gospel, and everything in between, adding his own flare and personality with each release. Having shared the stage with the greats such as Megan Thee Stallion and Jhene Aiko, the singer-songwriter returns today with the official music video for “Insecure,” featuring Pink Sweat$. The arrival of the visual coincides with the release of his revamped [_Twenties (Deluxe)_](https://brenjoy.lnk.to/twentiesdeluxe), premiered today exclusively on _Flaunt_. The project’s lead single, “Insecure,” is a beautiful blend of nostalgic new sounds, tapping in fellow R&B sensation Pink Sweat$ for one hell of a collab. The record sets the tone for the new 15-track project, seeing Bren let his guard down for love. _Flaunt_ caught up with Bren to discuss making music during the pandemic, the new deluxe album, working with Pink Sweat$, and more! **What was your thought process making new music during the pandemic? How has it affected the outcome of** [**_Twenties (Deluxe)_**](https://brenjoy.lnk.to/twentiesdeluxe)**?**  The pandemic gives you so much time to really analyze what you make and put the energy into the details of your art. Once July 2020 hit, my thought process began to change. I started to see the overwhelming amount of free time as a chance to really understand and figure out what I wanted and how I wanted to tell my story through my art. _Twenties (Deluxe)_ wouldn’t have happened without the pandemic.  **What's your favorite song on the EP (old or new), and why?**  They’re all special to me. I mentally operate about 8 months ahead of my art, however I think “IDGAF” is the first time I’ve really sat down and sang what came into my head. It’s a vulnerable and hopeless song, and there’s something very powerful about that. It’s also incredibly fun to sing live. \[laughs\] **What were you trying to convey in the visual?** “Insecure” itself for the past months has been my mental aid, a sense of therapy. I constantly would turn it on when I'm down or wishing there was a bit more sun outside. I personally wanted the visual to feel like a form of therapy and relaxation, like one of those 4-hour meditation loops. \[laughs\] Something that listeners could come back to when they’re wishing for a bit more sun in their life.   **Where was the video shot?**   A bit outside of Los Angeles in Santa Clarita. **Talk about the collaboration with Pink Sweat$, how did "Insecure" come about?**  The song was written in Vegas a year or so ago. It was always so special to me. Pink Sweat$ has this way of simply creating songs that people want to sing and cover over and over again. “Insecure” embodies that feeling. After meeting and becoming homies, It was the perfect match.  **What's next for Bren Joy?** The beauty of a year of isolation is a full year to create and figure out what’s next. My taste and my art changes daily, I'm excited this summer to really push boundaries and keep presenting different parts of me to the world.
