Sophie Strauss has drowned herself in an underwater haven. The video for her dreamy new single, “Water,” shows her swaying in the waves to the sound of a light, melodic tune. According to Strauss, the song came from a place of frustration, the internal conflict between feeling like you’re not doing enough and like you’re caring too much. Deep underwater, a certain tranquility can be found.
Strauss tried a different, pressure-free approach when working on this project. The result of her creative realignment is a song that feels like floating. “Giving myself the creative control and being able to have such a detailed say in every inch of how something comes to life is so gratifying and reminded me why I love doing this,” said Strauss.
Now that she’s regained ownership of her musical process, Strauss is returning to performing, and will be at [El Cid in LA on Feb. 27](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/water-release-show-at-el-cid-tickets-92798198911?fbclid=IwAR0PDbc6vp3_eTNl1VW2yES1OBAhv-gOOqcTBkaasRlNlBmW8hMSR1QO7GU&ref=estw).
