Formed by brothers [Ross](https://www.instagram.com/ross_lynch/) and [Rocky](https://www.instagram.com/rockylynch/) Lynch in 2018, [The Driver Era](https://www.instagram.com/thedriverera/) focuses on creating songs based in reflection of their own unique lived experiences. When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, the brothers were forced to postpone their tour, and decided to press pause on their songwriting. This stillness gave them a reinvigorated love for their music, ultimately leading to the conception of _Girlfriend._
The brothers co-wrote and produced _Girlfriend_ in their home studio, and it includes songs that date as far back as 2016. Tied less to a musical theme than it is to different snapshots of time, _Girlfriend_ serves as a playlist of evocative grooves.
“When I look at these songs it feels like a reflection of our past few years,” Rocky notes. “It’s us living life and writing about it and telling our story and our different viewpoints on things. It’s about how we’ve gone about our mid-20s.”
Ross, who is an acclaimed actor known for his work in Netflix’s _Chilling Adventures of Sabrina_ and biopic film _My Friend Dahmer,_ after spending five years playing Austin Moon on the popular Disney Channel Original Series, _Austin & Ally_ adds, “We write the songs hoping fans can relate to them. That’s what we’re striving for – a connection between us and our listeners.”
_Girlfriend_ is available everywhere on October 15th, and The Driver Era World Tour begins November 15th.
