[Tyler Abron](https://www.instagram.com/tylerabron/?hl=en) is here to take the entertainment industry by storm. A few years back, the Boston, Massachusetts native made the bold decision to move across the country to Los Angeles… and she hasn’t looked back since. You may recognize her in films including 2014’s _Are You the One?_, 2018’s _The Family Business,_ and 2016’s _The Breaks_, but she’s actually so much more than just an actress.
With her undeniable beauty both inside and out, Tyler’s talents do not go unnoticed. Boasting 577K followers on Instagram alone, Tyler got her start doing reality television on MTV’s _Are You The One?,_ where she gained a core fanbase who quickly fell in love with her contagious smile and girl-next-door personality.
She states, “I’m a proud Sagittarius. We’re the best, we like to have fun. I’m an adrenaline junkie. Favorite thing to do is something I’ve never done before.”
As a host, her impressive resume to date includes doing red carpets for Lionsgate, covering the Super Bowl, NBA All-Star events and concerts, and landing various gigs in shows and commercials. Most recently, she landed a role in Deon Taylor’s film, _DON’T FEAR,_ alongside an all-star cast of Joseph Sikora (_Power),_ King Bach, and T.I.
_Flaunt_ caught up with Tyler via Instagram Live, who was posted at her crib in Los Angeles in high spirits. Read below as we discuss her roots in Boston, being both an introvert and extrovert, how she got into acting, her first big break, shooting _Don’t Fear_, moving to LA, wanting to start a denim line, TikTok videos, goals, and more!

**Growing up in Boston, what was a young Tyler like?**
I’m from Boston, I’m an only child. It’s funny because there’s such a thing as Only Child Syndrome, and I have the exact opposite of that. I'm very sharing, I’m very giving. I don’t like to be alone at all. I was exactly how I am now. I’m pretty bubbly, I’m pretty happy all the time. I see life as a glass half full type of thing. I’m not a 9 to 5 person by any means. This has always been me, I like to wake up and not know what I’m getting into for the day.

**You say you don’t like being alone, are you an introvert or extrovert?**
I can be both actually. I love being around people but at the same time, I enjoy my own company. When I moved to LA, this was the first time I was living by myself. I remember when my mom dropped me off, I’m like “shit, what do I do now? I don’t know anyone here, what am I gonna do?!” Over time, I’ve learned to love it. Now, I can never live with someone—well, unless I get married down the road. I’m both. When I’m out, I’m out. When I'm in, I’m in.
**How did you get into acting?**
If you could dream fearlessly, acting’s the thing I've always wanted to do. I’ve been discouraged a lot of times along the way with certain peoples’ opinions and what I wanted to pursue, but the reason I love acting so much is because how cool is it that within one lifetime, you get to live a bunch of different lives? That, to me, is insane. Who wouldn’t want to do it? Some people don’t want to do that, but I damn sure do. When I’m on set, it’s the only place I want to be. It’s what drives me.
I took acting classes, I took it seriously. I lived in New York for 2 years. I took acting classes damn near every other day, Susan Batson Studio. A bunch of acting classes and courses and I loved it. Thankfully, there were certain people along my journey who have believed in me when I had nothing to show as far as a reel or experience. They put me in films and TV shows, shout out to Christopher Nolan, Trey Hadley. They had no reason to put me in these positions and they did so anyways. It gave me my first real experience of what being on set was, I’ve loved every single minute of it. I can’t wait to pop off and be able to give back to those people who have given back so much to me.
**What was your first major role?**
Two come to mind, which happened very recently. There’s a movie coming out called _A_ _Rich Christmas,_ the first time I carried an entire movie on my back. I was the star of the movie as opposed to a co-star. I remember getting the script like “how am I supposed to memorize all of this in like no time at all?” It was the best experience ever. That movie doesn’t come out until next year. There were a lot of great people in that movie: Bill Bellamy, Brandee Evans from _P-Valley,_ Denise Boutte, just a great project. A great film with Megamind Productions.
Another one I’m super grateful for is Deon Taylor’s film _Don’t Fear_ because of the people involved with it. It was T.I., Joseph Sikora. A lot of people don’t know his name, but that’s Tommy from _Power._ When I tell you, the fact that I got to work with him is insane.
**What was the highlight?**
Shit, the whole day. The whole thing was a highlight, I enjoyed every minute of being there.
**How was working with T.I.?**
That was great. He brought nothing but good vibes, good energy. He’s an amazing actor too. He doesn’t even need a script. He goes off the dome, which is crazy.
**Did you learn anything from him?**
I’m constantly learning things from everyone. The main thing I’ve learned is that no matter people’s experience being on set, how many films or how long they’ve been doing this for, everybody fucks up. A lot of people don’t know what they’re doing, in a good way. You don’t have to go on set and be intimidated, everyone is human. We’re all trying to do the best that we can do.
**How was your time on MTV’s _Are You the One?_ I know you put the money towards student loans, which is amazing.**
That’s one of those experiences that you’re super grateful for because not a lot of people have had that experience or will ever get to have that experience, but it’s also that experience that taught me what I want versus what I don’t want. \[laughs\] And what I don’t want is reality TV because my little sensitive self can’t handle it. Acting is my journey, but not reality TV. But shit, it was fun.
**Would you do reality TV again?**
It’d have to be on a “my terms” type situation. It can’t be on no messy type shit. I’m not with that, my anxiety’s too high for it. No, not doing that. If I ever did some reality TV show, it wouldn’t be that.
**How was it when you first moved to Los Angeles?**
I lived in Manhattan for 2 years. The experience I had there, I was around everyone. I was in a relationship at the time, but that put me into the entertainment industry. If I had jumped from Boston to LA — especially with me being an only child and being very sheltered, and coming straight out of college — I would’ve been very naive to a lot of situations. I do think a lot of people from out here are dumb naive, super super-naive. Luckily, I had some experience before I came out here.
I came out here and I didn’t know a soul. I didn’t know a single person. To look back and think of all the people I know now, all the connections I’ve known, it’s a blessing. I was in a place of depression to be honest, when I went back to Boston. For me, it was all or nothing. I had no fear. It was a new environment. I came here, I felt at home immediately. The weather’s nice.
**What do you do for self-care or to stay grounded?**
I need to start meditating more. There’s a bunch of self-care things I should be doing, but life gets in the way. I should be waking up in the morning, first thing I do is write down what I’m grateful for, my goals, or go on YouTube and search some motivational videos, workout in the morning. I need to be doing all that. For self-care, I workout all the time. I don’t know, drink a lot of water?
**Is it true you want to rap?**
I do. Music is the driving force of damn near everything. From sporting events to movies, film, TV shows, music drives everything. I wake up to music. If I wasn’t waking up to music, I probably wouldn’t be waking up. It controls my mood. It’s huge and I’d love to be a part of it. It’s another way to express yourself.
**Can we expect a single from you anytime soon?**
Oh, you should be. Shit you better be, along with all the other film and TV projects. I want to do it all, life’s too short. Don’t limit yourself, do it all.
**How’s dating while acting?**
Dating period or dating while acting? For a long time I wasn’t in the dating headspace and I’m kind of not… well it’s not as bad as it was before. If you asked me a year ago, I’d say I’d date anyone. You could ask me to be in a relationship with you, I could be in love with you, nah. I’m not gonna be committed, just because I’m so focused on myself right now and what I want to do. Dating, oh my gosh that’s really a full-time job. It can be draining, it can be emotional. I’m trying to do what I’m put on this earth to do. If someone comes along who can add to that, then perfect. I’m all for it.
Let me tell you, I know so many people who have had certain goals. They get into this relationship that seems good or the public even deems it as being like “oh, they’re so lucky,” but they’re trapped. I’m not trying to be trapped. Fuck that, I ain’t doing that. As far as dating while acting, if I was to start dating someone, they need to be super understanding. Even me doing videos with whoever I do videos with for social media, understand that’s all it is. A lot of guys are so emotional, they can’t handle that.

**How did you build your following on Instagram? Any secrets?**
It’s funny, a lot of people think I built my following off of the show. That show is so long ago and no one from my show even has a following. It was too long ago, Instagram wasn’t really that big of a deal back then. I built my following by being myself. Guys listen up, my following started growing when I stopped giving a fuck. I’d be posting at home, being myself, posting my personality. I already have a very fun, outgoing personality. A lot of times when people fall in my DMs, they don’t talk about my looks. They don’t tell me how pretty I am, they say “your energy seems so fucking dope!” See, that’s the type of compliment I’d rather get. I don’t really know how I built my following, it just came. I know a lot of people, they have the tools and the strategy to build a following and it’s not working. So don’t give a fuck and do you, if people come people come.
**What does it mean to be an influencer and breaking the stigma?**
Influencer is a very interesting term because you could say well, what’re you influencing people to do? I don’t necessarily see myself as an influencer. My aspirations aren't to be an influencer, I like to create content. If people come, people come. That’s how I think of it. As far as the stigma that comes with it, the whole influencing thing is amazing. The time that we’re in, you can create your own content. If you want to be an actor, you can create your own films and put it on social media and get recognition from that. There’s a downside from that because I don’t think people take you as seriously. My goal is to be taken seriously, that’s really all I care about.
**What’s your secret to staying snatched?**
\[laughs\] First of all, I’m pescitarian so I don’t eat meat. Honestly, I eat whatever I want. Before this interview, I had this big ass bagel. I ate it all and you’re not supposed to eat bagels because they stay in your system for forever and ever. Right before I have a project, I’ll go on a 3-day juice cleanse. I’ll cleanse out, which for me is the healthiest thing for me to do. It cleanses your body, gets rid of a lot of water weight, clears your mind.
**All you drink is juice?**
Yeah for 3 days. I go to Pressed Juicery, one of those juicing places and detox for 3 days.

**Have you been enjoying the TikTok challenges?**
Those are fun. I think they’re fun. It’s a bonding experience too. Me and my dad did our first ever TikTok when I went out to Boston. It’s funny because I think my parents like it more than I do. They’ll say “let’s do a Tik Tok!” My mom thinks she's famous: “nah I can’t wear that today. What if someone sees me out on the streets? What if I go to the store and someone sees me?” Because my challenges, they do pretty good numbers.
**Do you have a love for fashion as well?**
To be honest, I’m from Boston. I’ve had the worst fashion sense for a while now. \[laughs\] As I get older, especially after living in Manhattan, my fashion sense has definitely grown. Due to that, I’d like to have my own fashion line down the road: a line of denim jeans. The fashion industry is huge and shit, I can't wait to be a part of that. I can't wait until the world opens back up and I get a chance to sit on the sidelines of a runway show. That’s what I’m looking forward to.
**Any goals for yourself at this point in your career?**
Yeah, everything. Do everything I’ve ever wanted to do. Keep going, keep going, keep going. Book more TV shows, which I have some coming up. I have a few things coming up. Hopefully more films, start this music. Start my own brand, my own line of things.
**What’s your own brand?**
The jean line, and just expand. I’m that person, I can wake up tomorrow morning and have a new idea. The goal is whatever that idea happens to be at any point of my life, to go forward with it.

**Talk about shooting the Christmas dramedy _A Rich Christmas_, what can we expect?**
That movie is going to be great. My character is very similar to how I am in real life so it’s going to be a lot of fun. You have to wait until December to get it, but it's going to be a nice Christmas, family movie for all ages. It’s not going to be corny either, it’s hilarious.
**What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?**
Only a few people know this, but the craziest thing I’ve done is I’ve signed myself up for a bootcamp, survival, wilderness trip for 45 days. Didn’t shower for 45 days. Shat in the woods and used a pinecone to wipe my ass for 45 days, that type of thing.
**That sounds like a great experience, to be honest.**
No, that was a horrible experience. That was for kids that came out of juvie that their parents forced them to go into for self-development. I did that purely off of a bet because someone, I forgot who it was, said ”oh yeah, I bet you won’t do that.” I signed up right then and there. Oh I won’t do it? Got you. Worst experience ever. Looking back on it, so happy I did it. That showed me that if I can do that, I can do anything. I need 2 hours to talk about that experience, I was miserable. It was great, but it was miserable.
**Anything you want to let the people know?**
No, not really. People will get to know more of me soon, not just on Instagram.
