Luxury watches are worth every penny because of their master craftsmanship. These timepieces are not just accessories making a classy statement but also a generational asset and an investment. Both new and pre-owned luxury timepieces have seen rising demand, along with premium watch aficionados who prioritize quality over everything else. If you belong to this league, Anthony Farrer is probably the person you want to meet. He is the founder and CEO of Timepiece Gentleman, a luxury watch shop in Los Angeles, California.
Anthony Farrer's story doesn't start from luxury timepieces but from the streets of Dallas. During his teens, Anthony became deeply involved in the city's nightlife and became addicted to alcohol. This addiction led to his imprisonment, charged with a DUI. However, this was not the first time Anthony was imprisoned. In pursuit of a sober life, Anthony moved to Miami to rid himself of his addiction. He went through the worst phase of his life when his brother died in a bike accident; at the same time, Anthony had just been sentenced again. This makes it his third time being charged with DUI; as a result, he also missed the birth of his son.
After spending nearly 16 months in prison, Anthony decided to turn his life around. Thankfully he had handed his luxury watch to one of his friends before imprisonment with the hope that he could have some cash in hand when he was free. After his release from prison, Anthony was forced to live in a halfway home, and this spurred him to sell his luxury watch. He listed the watch on a seller's website and was surprised to see a buyer willing to pay. Anthony initially thought it was a scam plot, but to his surprise, the buyer made good on the agreed price.
After making a profit by flipping a luxury watch, Anthony invested the money in buying another luxury timepiece and listed it on a seller's website. During this time, Anthony was working as a personal trainer at a gym by day and waiting tables in the evening. When a seller approached to buy the watch, Anthony hesitated to meet him in the evening during his duty hours. He eventually comparatively weighed his profit from the watch sales with his salary and decided to quit his job to seal his second deal. This followed with a third sale; within weeks, Anthony earned more money than he was working two jobs.
Desperate to convert his new-found source of earnings into business, Anthony started learning everything he could about luxury watches and the business aspect of it. In 2017, Anthony founded Gentleman Timepieces, a company that links buyers of pre-owned luxury watches and sellers of luxury timepieces. Since its inception, Gentleman Timepieces has grown to be an 8-figure brand disrupting the luxury watch market.
With customers based around the world, Gentleman Timepieces offers an exclusive collection of luxury watches that include an elite range of Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Omega, Hublot, and more. In 2021, Anthony signed a 2-year lease agreement for a sprawling 19,300 square feet lavish penthouse, which he plans to transform into an office for Gentleman Timepieces. Located on a 53-story tower in Downtown Los Angeles, the penthouse has 6 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 18-foot-tall windows, a rock climbing wall, a private rooftop pool, a fitness center, a game room, a steam room, and a sauna. It has a rent value of a staggering 5-figure, a high-end rent at that.
Anthony Farrer's journey from prison to the penthouse has made him a role model for aspiring entrepreneurs. He continues to set new sales goals yearly with Gentleman Timepieces and surpasses them in revenue. His determination, hard work, and persistence inspire a generation of entrepreneurs to focus on their goals and spur them to cultivate the willpower to accomplish them.
