AREA presented their Spring/Summer 2023 collection on Feb. 11th, during New York Fashion Week. The collection, designed by Piotrek Panszczyk , explores “fabulous fruits,” with fruit motifs and bright, summery colors, as well as some dark, moody colors as well. The collection aims to look at not just the beauty of fruits, but their symbolic meaning throughout history, art and pop culture. 

Fresh and vibrant fruit symbolize rebirth, life, and vitality, but decaying and rotting fruit show the mortality of life. These concepts were explored through various embroideries, embellishment techniques, metalworks, and construction, through motifs of grapes, bananas, and watermelon and even fruit flies.
