Ashley Sienna & Ellise reflect their love for alt-pop music’s dark and mysterious side, with lyrics that delve deep into the darker aspects of life and relationships. Their sound is haunting and beautiful, with depth and complexity that will captivate listeners from all walks of life.

As they continue to grow and evolve as artists, there is no doubt that Ashley and Ellise will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of Pop music. Their unique sound and undeniable chemistry make them one of the most exciting new acts today.

Their recent video “Pretty In The Dark” opens with a hand waving over a single lit candle in some unknown black magic ceremony. Ashley Sienna & Ellise sit side by side on an antique loveseat. The room looks cozy and drenched in red. With a horror vibe reminiscent of Weyes Blood’s “Everyday,” the video evolves cryptically and uncertainly. A sense of tension emerges from the cinematography. The music further cements this emphasis on the creepy, allowing the darkness plenty of time to roll through.

An excellent array of candles in a darkened room, followed by hands creeping around a face, adds to the unsettling imagery. The color palette from black and white to pure beet red is an inspired choice. Veering between the two colors adds to the song’s extremity that explores love and darkness. They choose both. Standing in front of an unknown Victorian house of indeterminate age adds to the timelessness of the video. Parts of it could be seen as a continuation of the Southern Gothic tradition. In contrast, the usage of black and white has a Hitchcockian sensibility—even some of the stills used in the video reference the classic painting “American Gothic” right down to their sunken, sullen expressions. Plenty of the sound neatly plays upon the idea of the portraits, adding to the bewildering displays.

The video ends with that same hand waving over a single lit candle, closing out the magic ceremony, allowing the video a “river run” effect.
