This Summer, Burberry is committing to playful sophistication. The upcoming looks are riddled with curiosity and adventure, delivering a clear sartorial storyline: the luxury fashion house has reworked its raincoats from Spring showers and reinvented itself for the warmer season. As always, materials are lighter. This time, they’re also significantly more weathered, allowing the faded sun-washed garments to demonstrate the change in season.

This collection features a soft cool-toned color scheme, with skylark, seafoam, and lilac at the forefront. Pops of vibrancy include the occasional terracotta, remaining consistent with the verdant imagery. Themes of naturality beam through the display of cargo and utility items, prepping wearers for sunny days of child-like recreation. Bottoms, whether flowy silk skirts or protective trousers, are built for functionality and movement.

Contrary to expectation, the brand has designed an abundance of Summer outerwear, as the lookbook brims with capes, parkas, jackets, and trenchcoats. Textiles are lightweight and carefully lined over polo shirt collars to retain the British genius that defines Burberry. The collection harmonizes with a classy and jovial spirit.

The collection’s accessories tie the looks together, realizing the narrative through leather bags made of grainy leather, suede and patchwork. Open-toe mules, twine heels, and even men’s penny loafers further this concept through their subtle femininity.

The full collection is unveiled at the National Theatre, intentionally drawing stark juxtaposition between the intense architectural work and the clothing’s featheriness. The location choice is in accordance with Burberry’s commitment to investing in the arts.
