In continuation of the ongoing Dior Lady Art initiative, Dior has announced the artists behind Dior Lady Art 7—set to launch January 2023. Bridging cultural and artistic borders alike, the initiative sought out artists from all coasts of the world—Egypt, Qatar, and China to name a few.
The Lady Dior, for those unfamiliar, made its debut in 1995 on the arm of one Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, propelling it into the legacy it now holds. The bag—then called Chouchou—was at the time unreleased, and soon became the Princess’ go-to, later granting it the name, 'Lady Dior.'
Today, the bag has seen multiple iterations, recreations, and reinventions—with the Dior Lady Art project to thank. Featured artists include Ghada Amer, Brian Calvin, Sara Cwynar, Alex Gardner, Shara Hughes, Dorothy Iannone, Minjung Kim, Zhenya Machneva, Bouthayna Al Muftah, Françoise Petrovitch and Wang Yuyang. Each has stepped up to the plate, taking on the challenge of reinterpreting the timeless, iconic bag.
