L.A.-based singer-songwriter Edie Yvonne has shared ‘Delusion,’ her first single of 2024.

The artist, who is still just 15 years old, rose to prominence throughout last year. She gained traction in the media and hundreds of thousands of fans following the release of several exquisitely produced indie-pop songs.

Among them were tracks like ‘Darkness Bliss,’ ‘Queen Bee,’ and ‘Girl Code.’ Edie teamed up with emerging producers and writers Nicky Swedin and Cormac Liotta in these songs. Together, Edie and her team helped hone in on a singular music style that deals with the stresses, anxieties, dramas, social politics, and all the other issues that come with being a teenager in the world today.

With Edie still a teen, these were deeply intimate songs - with the lyrics written from the immediacy and rawness of personal experience. This appeals to listeners, as Edie currently has over 300,000 listeners on streaming platforms.

Girl Code’ and Queen Bee’ marked the first two songs in a trilogy that focused explicitly on “mean girls and their minions.”

‘Delusion’ is the final part of this trilogy. The song is a grungy, self-reflective examination of what can happen when someone starts second-guessing themselves. In this song, Edie appears to be second-guessing her relationship with a person - and possibly her creativity. She sings: “Can’t catch a break/‘Cause I’m always drawn back to you/Not trying to be obsessed/But I’ll confess/That I’m second guessing/What to do.”

As with all of Edie’s songs, listeners know how honest she is when she puts pen to paper. Explaining how this honesty comes about, Edie said her writing process is “diaristic.  I write all day, usually every day, at least one song per week. Sometimes, an idea or inspiration will come in the middle of class, and I have to run to the bathroom to record a voice memo.

Her music has been favorably compared with the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish. At the same time, Edie herself has cited Blondie, The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, and The Cranberries as some of her main inspirations.

Above all, Edie has said that her music reflects her personal experiences and the experiences of those she grew up around. Her music has been called ‘indie-pop’ and ‘dream-pop,’ but at the heart of everything Edie does, she always intends to promote kindness and tolerance through song.

Speaking about this motivation, she said she wants to “make music and movies and have a platform for activism focused on the promotion of kindness, compassion, difference, and empathy.”

Edie Yvonne drops her latest single, ‘Delusion’ on February 14, 2024.
