K-pop quintet (G)I-DLE has made history in becoming the first act from an independent label to reach #40 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay Chart with a non-English song. This milestone follows the group’s release of their 5th EP entitled ‘I love.’ The EP highlights the versatility of the group’s members, Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua. With audible notes of pop, jazz and techno, coupled with both rapping and soft vocals, ‘I love’ is a presentation of the girl group’s unique, genre-bending sound. Navigating the emotions associated with the female experience, the EP is an emotional rollercoaster of its own.
Opening track ‘Nxde,’ which seeks to address these emotions, features an eccentric Moulin Rouge-esque music video inspired by artists Banksy and Marylin Monroe. Take a look at the video below!
