When one thinks Miami, a winter wonderland is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind. But this holiday season, Gucci’s turned Sweet Bird North Plaza into a beautiful a lavish wonderland. Stars like Yara Shahidi, Kitty Cash, Venus Williams, and more gathered between Gucci’s two boutiques in Miami’s Design District to sip on cocktails and listen to DJ sets from Carlita while enjoying the art installations. The event was followed by a special dinner with guests at Mother Wolf.
A joint effort with Art Basel Miami, the art display features the house’s snow globe-inspired installation, which tells the story of Gucci’s history, including pieces representing The Savoy hotel in London – where founder Guccio Gucci first found his inspiration for establishing the brand – along with some of the house’s flagship stores and notable boutique locations. A Gucci display wouldn’t be complete without showcasing their designs themselves; alongside the significant locations from the House’s history whose windows gleam inside the giant globe, there are also sleek, bright red suitcases and trunks featuring their famed monogram.
Artist Corydon Cowansage collaborated with Gucci to create three murals in a series of art walls to complement the immersive installation. Featuring vibrant shades of blue in smoothly textured abstract shapes, the grand murals create a vivid, complementary contrast to the festive red decorating the installation. On display until January 7th, the collective art display will also include ice cream, coffee, and baked goods during selective periods to add to the holiday experience.
