Known in creative circles as Jennciaga, in the world of digital design, few stories resonate with the flair and depth of Jenn Nguyen’s. With a portfolio that reads like the guest list of a who’s who event featuring household names such as Chanel Beauty, Calvin Klein, Tory Burch, and Hermès, Jenn’s story is one of triumph, punctuated with moments of high fashion, royal encounters, and personal resilience.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, to a Vietnamese refugee family, Jenn’s early life was steeped in the ethos of survival and ambition. Drawing inspiration from her father’s journey from busboy to successful entrepreneur, she initially charted a course towards a dream of opening up her own medical practice. Yet, a foray into high school art and digital media classes unveiled her true calling.

Jenn’s struggle with depression and her dedication to carving a niche in the competitive landscape of New York City’s design community showcases a relentless pursuit. From launching her own fashion magazine as a college project to fostering influential connections at the Canada-Denmark Fashion tour, her story is one of victories and learning curves.

Arriving with just three suitcases, which she awkwardly managed to haul on the subway to save money– Jenn’s defining summer was spent in Paris at the age of 20.  Spending her days working on projects for iconic fashion and beauty brands such as Chanel Beauty, Hermès, and Pablo, was nothing short of a design odyssey. It marked her deep dive into the intricacies of Interactive UX Design, setting the stage for major milestones to follow. Jenn’s time at notable retail brands like Hudson’s Bay and Canada Goose further showcased her ability to navigate the pressures of innovation and the IPO landscape with poise– even as she battled the very relatable feeling of burnout.

Jenn’s lifelong dream of working in New York City beckoned with promises of new opportunities. Six months into her time, she was personally scouted by the Senior Director of Digital Design at Tory Burch. As an avid admirer of their work and culture, it was an offer she quickly jumped on, ultimately leading her to become one of the design leads on the global redesign of toryburch.com.

Although her vast design agency experience and expertise resulted in successful launches across multiple continents, COVID-19 threw a curveball, exacerbating her mental health and the bitter realities of racism and Asian hate. Jenn returned home to focus on her mental health journey and was eventually recruited as a consultant with GameStop followed by Calvin Klein, where she led a team of designers.

Undeterred and eager to keep growing, Jenn navigated the tumult of the tech industry, from the edge of layoffs to landing at a $1B valuation web3 startup, designing an NFT fashion marketplace for the Gen-Z within the creator economy.

The chaos has only fortified her resolve, steering her towards entrepreneurship and consulting with Jenn Studio, a design studio crafting industry-leading websites, mobile apps, brand experiences for technology, startups, and fashion companies.

As founder and consultant Jenn proudly works with a diverse array of clients, from startup founders to established brands all of which seek her out for her expertise in crafting culturally relevant narratives through design. Jenn’s story is not just a story of personal success but a source of inspiration for aspiring creatives venturing into the volating yet highly influential world of fashion, ecommerce, digital design, and consulting.
