Open up the floodgates to a new dimension of fear at the hands of director João Dall’Stella and his new vision of Queer Horror!
Brazilian by birth and Angelino by heart, João Dall’Stella is a writer and director who uses cinema as a way to explore the darker aspects of our minds while also driving home the importance of authenticity and self-love. Dall’Stella's body of work is already earning him recognition as the vanguardist he presents himself as.
Dall’Stella’s award-winning short film, ‘Dia De Las Carpas’, was awarded the prestigious DGA Grand Prize for Latino Directors and has been showcased at esteemed events and festivals such as CAA Moebius, SAG-AFTRA Foundation, and Oscar-qualifying film festivals. Additionally, his other short film, “Stalls”, has made a significant impact in over 50 LGBTQ+ festivals worldwide, including a notable feature in OUTFEST 2020.
Leaning a bit into the horror-comedy elements of ´The Evil Dead´, Dall’Stella’s newest work is a compilation of bloody shorts for this Halloween season titled “Hot Ways To Die”, which comes from the thought “If I'm dying, I'd rather do it while having fun and looking good.”
The Halloween special boasts a talented cast and crew that embraces queer representation. The inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters as both heroes and villains allows for a nuanced exploration of the diverse human experience, showcasing both light and darkness on screen.
The ‘Hot Ways To Die’ collection of shorts presents seven chilling stories, each offering a unique perspective. From a vampire with an unconventional appetite to the gory mysteries behind a glory hole and many more.
The all-queer cast includes Alex Honrato (Through A Hole, In the Shower), Ty Chen (Dropping the Towel), Davi Stefond (During Climax), and Michael Lyons (Getting Eaten Alive and In the Steam Room).
The series is being released from October 20 to Halloween Day on João's personal Instagram @joaodallstella.
