Los Angeles-based musician John Miller has been making waves in the music scene with his captivating performances and unique sound. Miller's dedication to his craft shines through from his recording process to his live stage setup. The 26-year-old has quickly gained a dedicated following of fans from diverse age groups. This eclectic audience reflects the universal appeal of his music, which seamlessly merges elements of alternative rock, pop, and dance.

“Our audience ranges anywhere between 16 to 33. That’s who has been coming to our shows and reaching out on social media,” Miller says. “There has surprisingly been a crowd in their 50s, too. It’s cool to see such diverse listeners.”

When it comes to his live performances, Miller and his band deliver an electrifying experience. In June, they are set to perform at several notable venues, including the iconic Whisky a Go Go on Sunset, The Mint, and the Constellation Room in Orange County. These shows promise to showcase Miller's guitar-driven sound and his ability to captivate audiences with his energetic stage presence.

In the recording studio, Miller and his band employ a collaborative approach to capture the essence of their sound. They record live instruments, such as guitars, bass, keyboards, and drums, creating a dynamic and organic feel to their tracks. Miller himself takes on the role of lead vocalist, delivering heartfelt performances with his expressive voice. He also contributes harmonies, adding depth and texture to the music.

“I'm recording the guitar and bass, and then someone plays the keyboards. I also have my drummer playing the drums on the recorded version, and then I'm singing,” he says. “And then I'm doing some of the harmonies, too.”

Reflecting on his musical journey, Miller reveals that his passion for music was sparked in fourth grade when he began playing the violin. However, his musical direction changed after moving to California from Kansas City. Influenced by his father's eclectic taste in music, Miller explored various genres and discovered his love for writing and crafting songs with catchy hooks.

“I have to credit my dad a lot for showing me a lot of older songs and giving me a different perspective on music,” he says. “I'm really grateful because I feel like that shaped my music.”

Having graduated during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Miller used the experience to channel his creativity into songwriting. He drew inspiration from everyday experiences, especially those related to relationships. Through his music, Miller aims to convey a message of hope and resilience. His songs touch upon life's struggles and joys, creating a relatable and uplifting musical journey for listeners.

“I've always been a fan of the light at the end of the tunnel kind of message,” he says. “When encapsulating a whole album, I think you can talk about all the awful stuff, all the crazy stuff, all the heartbreak stuff, but then end it with what life at the end of the tunnel will look like.”

As Miller gears up to release his debut album he plans to share each song individually before eventually compiling them into a cohesive body of work. This approach allows him to engage his audience throughout the album's release process while building anticipation for the complete project.

With influences ranging from Love and Green Day to SZA and Lady Gaga, Miller's sound is a unique fusion of nostalgic and contemporary elements. His guitar-driven alt-pop style, dance-infused beats, and relatable lyrics create an infectious sound that resonates with fans, old and new.

John Miller's emergence as a talented musician and captivating performer highlights the exciting potential of the Los Angeles music scene. With his debut album on the horizon and a series of live shows lined up, Miller's star is undoubtedly on the rise.
