One of the biggest challenges Lena Teva faced as a promotional model at the beginning of her career was building her clientele in a highly competitive industry. The industry’s unpredictability and fast-paced nature also posed challenges. To make headway in the industry, she not only had to be flexible but approach each challenge with a positive attitude. However, eight years of experience in the field have taught her how to create not just memorable experiences but genuine connections as well.
Teva is honest when she says it is tough to stand out among so many talented promotional models. Starting out, she faced the challenge of consistently remaining booked while building a client base in Las Vegas, which she describes as a “mecca for trade shows.”
“It was tough to stand out among so many talented models,” Teva says, “but through hard work, professionalism, and a dedication to providing superb service to the brands I represented, I was able to make a name for myself.”
Teva’s persistence paid off. Over the course of six years, she has built a strong base of clients, some of whom have worked with her for over half a decade.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused many people in a variety of sectors to struggle, and the promotional modeling industry was no exception. With no big events or trade shows in Las Vegas taking place for several years, she was forced to adapt to the changing landscape by taking part in virtual events and webinars.
These experiences were not without benefit, Teva says. “[They] opened new doors for me to engage in promotional work online and create content, which added a new dimension to my career.”
Teva clearly states that perseverance and adaptability are important in any career, but they are especially true in promotional modeling. She says that a competitive market such as Las Vegas demands for not only talent but also resilience and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
“There will be challenges and setbacks,” Teva says, “but staying committed, maintaining a positive attitude, and being open to learning from every experience can make a significant difference.”
Building genuine connections and nurturing relationships is also important. Success in the industry is about how well you engage with people and represent the brands one works with, Teva notes. She adds that the ability to focus on delivering exceptional service to clients, being professional, and connecting authentically with others is key.
“Take every opportunity at shows to connect with people,” she says. “These interactions might lead to more bookings in the future.”
When asked about her aspirations for the future, Teva envisions herself continuing to excel at being a promotional model over the next several years.
“My goal is to leverage my experience and connections to secure more prominent and diverse opportunities, allowing me to further develop my skills and reach new audiences,” she says.
With a passion for exploring creative ventures, Lena Teva ultimately wants to build a legacy of not just professionalism and creativity but inspiration, thereby leaving a lasting mark on the industry and the people she works with.
