Today, Louis Vuitton unveiled their largest retail space in the United States, located at 6 E. 57th Street NYC. Though the store is a temporary location while the iconic Louis Vuitton flagship on 5th Avenue undergoes a multi-year renovation, you would not know it from a look inside. The location spans five floors and features a chocolate shop, a café, and a capsule collection that pays tribute to the city that never sleeps.
Upon entering the location, one immediately finds themself in an atrium space offering a glimpse of the above four floors. The room is adorned with stacks of the House’s Courrier Lozine trunks spanning from floor to ceiling. Designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu, the trunks highlight different materials the Maison is known for – from classic Monogram canvas to sophisticated white Damier checkerboard. It is a visual spectacle on a scale only Louis Vuitton could execute with such perfection.
Take the escalator up to the third floor and you will find yourself at Le Café Louis Vuitton, under the expertise of French chefs Arnaud Donckele and Maxime Frédéric. The menu draws from global influences, offering everything from truffle ravioli and croque sandwiches to a classic hamburger – all with a signature LV flair. The café also will serve as a space for local chefs to excel under the mentorship of Donckele and Frédéric, presenting an ever-changing culinary experience honoring the diverse nature of the city.
If you’re in the mood for something a bit lighter, you can visit Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric, the first of its kind in the US. A Normandy native, the pastry chef Maxime Frédéric is world-renowned for his chocolate delicacies, incorporating local ingredients from small-scale farmers & friends. His location in the store offers classic chocolate bars, hazelnut bonbons, and a miniature Louis Vuitton trunk that is to be unlocked with a chocolate key. If it’s at Louis Vuitton, it is done with style. A chocolate bar is no exception.
Lastly there’s the store’s capsule collection, commemorating the opening of the 57th Street location with collectable ready-to-wear, leathergoods, and more. There are Neverfulls in eye-catching taxicab yellow, a Speedy bag complete with a license plate charm, and a bright blue baseball cap embroidered with a big apple. Playful and fun like the city the store finds itself in, the collection is a whimsical interpretation of a New York fantasy. And as Daylight Savings shortens the days to our very limits, perhaps the inviting glow of 6 E. 57th Street NYC is the answer to any winter blues.
