All the world began with a yes.  One molecule said yes to another, and life was born. But before prehistory, there was the prehistory of prehistory, and then there was the never. Then was an opportunity, and so followed the yes.

It’s high noon on a balmy Florida afternoon. Electronic music’s rising singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ famously known as Miluhska nestles in on the couch from her Miami home just as we begin our Zoom. Fresh off a long day of filming her latest music video, she admits she only woke up an hour ago. To say it’s been a busy time for the artist who knows no days off would be the understatement of the year—she’s set to play at Coachella’s DoLab this year, released a remix tape of “La Musa,”(her hit collaboration with Jamie Jones from last summer) in December, is performing nonstop in Miami, and has music due to release soon. During this brief downtime between studio sessions, Miluhska confides in me she chooses to live her life in a hurry. Many would view such grueling ambition as the life of a crazed workaholic, but the 26-year-old sees it differently. She credits her hustle as her chosen formula for “going and getting shit done.”

Since 2020, Miluhska has skyrocketed onto the radars of nightlife denizens like herself across the globe. She was in a collective trio that she cofounded called Roujeee Tunes, made up of Zunji, Miluhska, and Phoenix. Her aptitude has also led her to perform at renowned venues, events, and festivals—including IIIPoints, Timewarp, Mayan Warrior, Teksupport, Solid Grooves, SXM Fesitval, Black Coffee Ibiza, Paradise Ibiza, and most notably, Club Space. Catch your breath yet?

Buried deeper within Miluhska’s story—and the euphoric dancefloors she presides over—is a testament to the power of nightlife as a whole, as it is through music that Miluhska has been able to unplug from the outside world. The beauty of music is the comfort it has brought her during the shadowed chapters of her life. “I was dating the wrong person, and I went into this really ugly hole.” She began to seek escape through nightly solo escapades to Club Space.

On the surface, she looked like any other party-goer. Maybe she was at first, but these outings would quickly ignite her career. She managed to convince the surrounding crowd she was a DJ (she wasn’t) and could operate the mechanics of a board (she couldn’t). One night, the untrained self-proclaimed performer was asked to play at an afterparty for a local club owner. Not one to shy away from opportunity, Miluhska took the invitation as the push she needed and taught herself to DJ in only three days.

Enter the yes.

Since then, it’s been nothing but go-go-go, though one can tell Miluhska wouldn’t have it any other way. In the upcoming era for the artist, prepare to catch her basking in a refreshingly vulnerable spotlight. “People haven’t really heard me pour my heart out in my music yet,” says the artist. Up until this point, the world has only known Miluhska from behind the booth. That effortlessly cool, indoor-shades-wearing devotee is ready to put down the lenses and allow the world a proper reintroduction.

“I’ve been making music that’s R&B, flamenco, and Latin infused,” Miluhska tells me. “It’s not electronic– it’s just a whole other side of me where I can tell my story. I can’t wait for the world to hear because it’s the real me”

If there is one thing Miluhska hopes to carry with her dancefloor to dancefloor, it’s a capability to inspire her audience. The artist tells me, “Music really got me out of a hole. It saved me in so many ways.” Her eyes begin to glisten. This world means more to her than she can ever communicate. She pauses and glances upwards out of frame, halting any potential waterworks threatening to squirm their way out of her lenses. “I just hope others can find that for themselves too, whatever it may be for them. We were all created by the greatest creator, and so we’re all creators ourselves.”

Make no mistake, Miluhska has only achieved success through enormous effort. The action of her story has ended her with nearly half a million monthly listeners and the ability to create freely. As for the yes, we should all take note. Choose to live the life of a molecule, with the potential explosion of atoms. Who knows where a “yes” can take them? From prehistory to the present; from the dance floor to the booth.
