Newem, the solo project from Sebastien Chenut, recently released his debut EP Dankster, a six-track run that stands out as industrial, infectious and maybe even a little off-putting. The sonic experience Dankster provides is eerily familiar, like your imagination playing tricks on you, or a hauntingly intriguing voice inside your head.
In “Octavia” there is a bit of a pick-up, a little faster, a little lighter even. Within the video, viewers can watch as the masked singer floats through a cityscape, reflecting the power of the rhythms – the lift and the build up of intensity is prevalent.
Deeper, darker, and hosting listeners with a narrator that makes itself comfortable with its presence – an almost looming, hazy cloud bubble that remains persistent through the beats. Dankster is out now on all streaming platforms.
