On May 12th and 13th, 2023, Prada presented Prada Mode in Tokyo in association with the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. The event was hosted and curated by acclaimed Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima, who serves as the director of the Teien Art Museum and is a long time collaborator of Prada. Models, artists, and influencers alike attended the event, including Mayu Matsuoka, Shido Nakamura, and Youna.

Prada Mode is a private club that holds itinerant events intended to foster unique experiences focused on contemporary culture. The club is imagined to cultivate significant global cultural gatherings from a diverse array of locations worldwide, giving attendees exclusive access to compelling content and programs that compliment the themes and subjects of the event’s hosts.

For the ninth iteration of Prada Mode in Tokyo, The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum was transformed into a space where guests were encouraged to explore and experience the historic architecture of the museum and art works curated by host Kazuyo Sejima in the gardens surrounding the museum. The main temporary pavilion was a wooden curved surface designed by Japanese architect and friend of Sejima, Ryue Nishizawa, to host conversations. The structure was placed in the European garden, and various other areas were created throughout the museum’s grounds so guests could fully experience the historic venue.

The two day event featured many activities, including a tea ceremony, workshops, lectures, dynamic conversations, and a private dinner to honor Kazuyo Sejima. On the first day, a party with live performances by Ivan Smagghe, Craig Richards, E/Tape, Chida and Monkey Timers was held at Unit in the district of Shibuya. A dynamic musical experience entitled “Garden of Android” was performed by Keiichiro Shibuya and Android Alter on Day 2. The entire musical program of Prada Mode Tokyo was curated by Craig Richards and Kunichi Nomura.
