Texas-based singer-songwriter Robert Cristian Jordan has just released his first full album, Phoenix Rising, which tells the story of his journey and that of his children. The album, which was released in February 2023, features a mix of slower and more uplifting songs, with the title track introducing Jordan’s Phoenix character, a symbol of rising above adversity.

Jordan, who was adopted as a newborn in a private adoption, grew up in a rural area of Texas, where his parents exposed him to musical theater and film at a young age. This exposure and watching movies helped shape his current songwriting style, which he describes as Cinematic Pop. Jordan’s love of music led him to pursue vocal performance in college, where he even performed in his first opera, FAUST.

In addition to his music career, Jordan was a professional wrestling manager on national and international television at 15, weighing over 350 pounds. Later in life, he underwent a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, which allowed him to live a more productive and active life. Despite this, Jordan continues to struggle with body dysmorphia and emotional eating.

The artist designs all his performance costumes, many of which incorporate Swarovski crystals. The crystals symbolize an individual needing only one ray of light to spread brilliance to the world, and Jordan seeks to spread positivity and love through his music and performances.

Jordan’s second album, Laying in the Ashes, is set to be released in late 2023/early 2024, with a working title that serves as a fitting sequel to Phoenix Rising. The album will feature more upbeat songs and continue to spread positive vibes as its overarching theme. Current pieces set to be released in April and May include "DAD GUY," a parody of Billie Eilish’s "Bad Guy," and "LAYING IN THE ASHES," described as Jordan’s "Proud Mary" moment.

Robert’s songs have been pitched for radio, film, and television, hoping to land in upcoming projects. Jordan grew up playing the piano, and every piece of music he writes starts on the keys, but he often incorporates orchestral/or rock instruments when the mood calls for it.

Robert founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization PHOENIX RISING MUSIC FOUNDATION, INC., whose mission is to foster a supportive and equitable environment for aspiring performing artists. The foundation strives to raise funds for other musical nonprofits and ensures that working musicians are fairly compensated when they contribute their talents to charity shows.
