Memories of a lost lover play on retro TVs in an empty white room, the desolate state of it all depicted with neon lights and abstract projections. At the center of it all is 22-year-old singer-songwriter and producer, Ryder Beer, belting out his newest heartfelt pop ballad, “One That Got Away.”

The emerging young musician and brother to pop star Madison Beer seamlessly blends his soft, melodious vocals with a catchy dance-pop beat, coming together to create a tune that is as haunting as it is infectious.

Beer’s commitment to vulnerability and authenticity in his music shine not just through the quality of his work, but through its content as well. With lyrics like, “Don’t break my heart/ Moving on would tear me apart / Don’t be the one that got away,” Beer tells a story of young love and loss. The ebb and flow of his fusion of synthy snares and percussive drum beats mimic the ups and downs of the tumultuous relationship he sings about, adding a layer of complexity to his emotional work.

His distinctive sound is only amplified by the creative vision he harnesses in the video accompanying his newest single. Commenting on his vision for his sophomore release, Beer tells, “I aimed to portray a fleeting young love, like a fever dream slipping through your fingers. I utilized flashing lights and old TVs to emphasize the intense emotion of a love that evaporated. My inspiration was sparked by talented artists such as "John The Blind," who skillfully uses light in his music to convey emotions and weave a captivating story. Their work truly resonates with me.”

Beer’s surreal visuals are accompanied by mesmerizing choreography and trippy in-camera effects, the dissociative feelings of heartbreak leaving a strong visual mark on the musician’s work. The result, a powerful depiction of reconciling the end of a meaningful relationship – and an equally powerful testament to the rising singer’s artistry.
