The heat burns the skin on your arm as it rests out your car window, but it’s a welcome sensation. The orange hue from your sunglasses paints the world in a way that makes time, and traffic, fade into oblivion. And today, Southern California trio Sun Room released their new EP Can’t Explain— containing four new songs for your listening pleasure.

In an expansion on the band’s signature 60s inspired sound, they dip their brushes into genres influenced by the bands, like Inhaler, that they’ve spent the past three years on the road with. The EP opens with an upbeat song with a cheeky message called, “Hate It When You Call”. On the EP’s title track, the band brushes with a hue of blues rock, calming their signature beachy harmonies with elements of jazz. Sun Room’s playfulness is reflected in their interpretation of genre, with contrasting elements explored in each track.

To those eager to find more of this EP, feel at ease to know that Sun Room will join Dayglow for his North American tour throughout September and October. And tomorrow, the band will debut the new capsule collection they designed for surf apparel brand Katin.
