Since 2018, reports from academic journals have come to criticize the fashion industry’s practice of burning and shredding unsold merchandise. Besides the obvious millions lost in smoke in getting rid of last season’s collection that may have missed the mark in consumer buying, it’s a practice loosely puppeteered to create exclusivity and maintain reputation, moved by the invisible hands of scarcity. In combating this practice, two indigo saturated titans have raised the light-wash flag in a collaboration that denim denizens can delight in. (whew!) In a limited capsule collection titled DIESEL.
DIESEL LOVES LEE this transformation initiative began as a way to repurpose fabric dead stock from each brand’s unsold stock. The resulting collection enabled the design teams of Diesel and Lee to address overconsumption, while creating new styles playing off of the different fits, treatments and sizes of the materials available from their respective warehouses. With two toned denim, raw edges, and thoughtful tailoring, each piece is a one of a kind piece, now available in select Diesel and Lee stores globally.
