Climate related dialogue is often synonymous with panic or feelings of helplessness, but it is important to celebrate the solutions and options that can spread positivity amidst the crisis. This is the philosophy behind Earth Edition, A Festival of Eco-Consciousness. Earth Edition will be held across twelve acres of CalArts campus in Santa Clarita, running from September 15th through September 24th. This festival welcomes creative innovation alongside crucial education as an ode to our planet. Hoping to soothe climate anxieties and counter catastrophic storytelling, Earth Edition is about rewriting narratives and imagining new eco-futures across various mediums.

Marrying art and ecological innovation, produced as part of Visions2030, Earth Edition will showcase the work of urban farmers, biotech entrepreneurs, climate activists, and artists. The Lumisphere Experience, a series of interconnected geodesic domes supports the big ideas of the festival. As visitors pass through, they are met with a medley of alluring visuals. Through the use of a custom AI platform, individuals are encouraged to rethink their own personal eco futures using both factual information and dreamlike hopes.

Other highlights bring light to California's thriving green design economy, featuring sustainably produced products, upcycled clothing brands, as well as grassroots organizations with missions to reshape both the planet and the communities within. The festival will also feature Indigenous art, music, and eco-art installations.
