Entrepreneurship is a complex sphere where ideas clash, merge, and evolve. In this high-stakes arena, women entrepreneurs have steadily made their mark, rising above the challenges and shattering the glass ceilings along the way.

Yet, their journeys are not just narratives of success - they’re stories of relentless determination, unwavering grit, and remarkable innovations, allowing women entrepreneurs to redefine what it means to be a business leader in contemporary times.

One such entrepreneur, who has achieved remarkable success within the reselling sector, is Erica Chierchio. Born and raised in Bensonhurst, near Brooklyn, Erica was left grappling with emotional loss and financial strain after her father’s untimely death.

At just 15, she began financially supporting her family, balancing school with multiple jobs. It was challenging, but, as she points out, these early experiences shaped her tenacity and determination—traits that would later become integral to her entrepreneurial journey.

“Life threw me curveballs, but I learned to catch them,” Erica says, “My battles and struggles didn’t define me. They refined me and made me stronger and more determined. They taught me to turn adversity into opportunity.”

A great opportunity presented itself when Erica was in her 20s - making homemade, organic jam, her first and unusual step into entrepreneurial waters. She had just tied the knot with her husband, Michael, and with professional and financial insecurity hanging above their heads, Erica began her search for a viable solution.

She finally got the idea to pick her backyard fruits and turn them into jam for sale. This early project, dubbed ‘Brooklyn Homemade,’ took off quickly, with Erica selling upward of 120 jars daily.

But winter slowed the production, forcing Erica to rethink where she wanted to go. She reveals she ended up dumpster diving with her husband, scouring New York's recycling bins for hidden gems they could sell.

With a keen eye for value and driven by her tireless entrepreneurial spirit, Erica sold the items online, mainly through eBay and later on Poshmark. This endeavor yielded tremendous results, making her realize she could be on the path to something greater.

“Reselling became much more than business. It became a way of life, a way to connect with people - whether they were other resellers, our customers, or anyone interested in this sector,” she says. “I’ve made great friendships ever since we started, and, as hard as it was to get to this point if I had to do it all over again - I would.”

The mark Erica has left on the reselling industry is undeniably nothing short of transformative. Over the years, she not only spotted some industry gaps, but she has been able to fill them with remarkable solutions.

In an effort to contribute not just to her own business but also to the platforms she and other business owners used and their clientele, Erica embarked on a path to innovation together with her app creator husband.

Her first contribution, along with her co-founder husband Michael, and co-founder / business partner Umair Jawaid,  the Crosslisting app, has successfully tackled a common problem among resellers - crosslisting on multiple platforms. Moreover, Erica has worked on Magiscriptor - an app that streamlines the product description process by relying on AI to write SEO-friendly descriptions.

But her story of innovation doesn’t end there. In a bold move, Erica recently unveiled her work with the brand-new Posh Sidekick— an application to revolutionize reselling on Poshmark.

Posh Sidekick is an app that aims to assist in various aspects of the reselling business while remaining strictly compliant with Poshmark's guidelines. One incredible app feature is Party Sharing, which allows users to automatically share items from their closet with all the Poshmark parties happening throughout the day.

“This ensures optimal visibility for your products, making them available for potential customers at the right time. This way, you’ll never waste a sharing session, which means your efficiency and exposure will be maximized, and your sales and overall performance on the platform will be increased,” Erica explains.

Then, there’s the Self-Share option, which lets resellers share their closet listings with their follower base at different times, such as morning, noon, and evening.  Finally, Posh Sidekick also has a system that filters out fake or scam accounts, ensuring only genuine individuals from the reselling community interact with users’ listings.

“We wanted to provide a solution that would not only simplify the reselling process but also empower people to maximize their potential,” Erica states. “Posh Sidekick has allowed us to turn this vision into reality.”

Since its launch, Posh Sidekick has become invaluable for many resellers looking to make their operations more efficient.

They have recently unveiled their latest super feature, automated live selling, which runs “silent auctions”, something Poshmark offers exclusively, “you just schedule your auction, set it, and forget it! Posh Sidekick will run your items for you automatically and send you notifications if anyone has questions during your show so you can answer them in a timely manner”.

Looking ahead, Erica is optimistic about the future. Although there are still challenges ahead, she prefers to view them as opportunities—for growth, improvement, and, above all else, to push the boundaries further.

As she says, “Challenges are just disguised opportunities. It’s all about perspective. Once we shift our view, we can find innovative solutions that solve our problems and create value for others.”
