Embroiderers, tailors, pattern cutters, leather workers, dressmakers, and furriers; it takes an army of craftspeople to create the pieces of the FENDI women’s Spring/Summer 2024 show. The collection follows the natural figure of the female body while employing traditionally masculine tailoring. Light, fluidity, and sinuousness emanated from the runaway as the hand-embroidered pieces floated down the stage. The eyes and the ears were happily in sync as composer Max Richter created a score that matched the precision and emotion of the collection. The show was said to be a conversation between poetry and reality which was successfully realized by Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear, Kim Jones.

The show weds structure and decoration combining cashmere, vicuna yards, and rib-knit dresses with shibari harnesses. To pair with the clothing, a line of jewelry, eyewear, and handbags was designed to be both precious and practical. The eyewear was designed using high-tech facial scans for the individual model and is crafted with 19k white and gold diamonds. FENDI also introduced the Gems Baguette bags on the catwalk with a 19k white and gold buckle that delicately sits on top. The new line reaffirms the humanity of the body that exists within the couture, creating a message that the model should be considered as someone, not something.

There was a talented and accomplished assemblage of attendees at the SS24 show including multi-award-winning actress Zendaya, actress and producer Reese Witherspoon, and her daughter Ava Phillipe. FENDI friend of the house and French actress Adéle Exarchopoulos attended alongside Korean actress and FENDI Brand ambassador Hyekyo Song. Notable guests also included Heart Evangelista, Yu Feihon, Zita d’Hauteville, MINA, and Korean band TWICE.
