New media artist Enrique Agudo presented “Ipesity” on April 6 at Vellum LA, an installation curated by Sinziana Velicescu that consists of eight digital paintings which visualize our modern conceptions of identity through the portrayal of new deities and their environments, available for viewing until May 14. Inspired by Pre Raphaelites, Agudo reinvents traditional paintings with digital realities, utilizing cutting-edge technology to offer parable narratives about the human self and our relationship to technology, such as Vellum’s LED Luma Canvas displays.

“Ipesity” is an extension of Queer Mythology, a virtual-reality short film created by Agudo that explores a visual dreamworld of Queer identities in modern Western cities. Scenes present generative animations that are connected to real-time date, connecting the digital and physical world, and encouraging audiences to reflect on and question how technology can distort and or magnify our self-perception and place in the physical world.
