Mega-streaming singer-songwriter Lisa Ramey makes clear she’s tired of playing games on ‘Internet,’ one of her catchiest and most self-assured songs to date.

Nationally recognized soul-pop singer Lisa Ramey has returned with her new single, ‘Internet,’ perhaps her most self-assured song release.

A natural performer, Lisa Ramey’s career has taken her everywhere and back again, but most people will know her from her stand-out turn on Season 16 of The Voice in 2019. Throughout this season, Ramey - who performed as part of Team Legend - delivered some of the best live set pieces, earning her several instantly viral moments.

Following the show’s ending, Lisa continued to make a name for herself as an influential singer-songwriter. Her debut album, Surrender, was released in March 2020, just at the onset of the Covid pandemic. Rather than let lockdown keep her away from her fans, Lisa became a prominent live-stream performer at home. These live-stream performances eventually led her to team up with artists like John Legend, Camilla Cabello, and Common as part of the Global Citizen's "Together at Home" concert series.

Recently, Lisa Ramey shared her second album, Broken Smile, with the world. The album, which re-imagined the songs and words of civil rights activist Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer, allowed Lisa to showcase two of her most important attributes - her powerful soul-pop voice and her consistent advocacy for social justice issues. These new songs won over Lisa’s fanbase, even those who had never heard of Ms. Lou Hamer before…

Now, with her latest songs, Lisa is keen to show that she’s still at the peak of her musical powers. On ‘Internet,’ Lisa gives us a catchy track with a message about lovers who spend too much time online rather than caring about the people they’re supposed to love.

In the song itself, Lisa is confident and sure of her convictions - even as she bares her soul in an intensely vulnerable way. She “wishes” that things were different regarding her love interest’s obsession with the internet, but, ultimately, she lets them know that she’s not prepared to put up with it for a moment longer.

Speaking about the song’s message, Lisa makes a passionate plea against the impact that the internet has on a person’s sense of self. She says: “Full-grown men love video games, and I get it, but when will you put it down and see me? Does the video game touch you like I do? Does it love you back like I do? Does it feed you like I do? Will it replace me?

She adds: “I love video games, but when do we put them down and look each other in the eye? Remember connecting person to person? Maybe it's a thing of the past....so where does this leave me?"

Well…it might leave the artist romantically frustrated - but artistically? Lisa’s very much at the height of her powers.
